How to Perform a System Update on the Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS, like most recent consoles, need to be updated from time to time as the system adds new features and enhancements to the system. It is recommended to keep your Nintendo 3DS system updated.

How to Update

To perform a System Update, your Nintendo 3DS should first be connected to the internet.

1. Select System Settings and choose Other Settings





2. Head to the last page (page 4) and choose System Update


3. The system will prompt you to connect to the internet and press “OK” and “I Accept”.


4. Select “OK” to begin the system update

It may take several minutes for the update to be completed, depending on the size of the update and your internet connection. If the progress bar does not move after a long period of time, you can turn off your system and repeat the process.

Once the update is done downloading, your system will automatically reset to apply the changes.
