Ok, well, I tried that cheat that is supposedly the only real way to get mew without having the japan version, and I tried it and did everything right and when I got to lavender town and went left, the menu popped up and everything but instead of a level 7 mew appearing, a level 7 ryhorn appeared and I dont know what I did wrong. Should I just try the cheat again? Oh and also, does the cheat where you go move that truck behind the ss anne work? Just wondering, but i haven't tried it yet.

I'm not sure what you did wrong but I tried it myself and the menu didn't pop up at all.

The most logical reason I can think of is sometimes it just doesn't work.

The only reason that a ryhorn would appear is that you battled the wrong trainer after flying away from the gambler.

The one you must battle is the youngster with only a lv. 17 slowpoke above nugget bridge.

If you battle the wrong one, any pokemon can appear.

By the way, the cheat were you move the truck only works in the japanese version, along with getting mew from the guy in celedon city once you have all 150 pokemon(in the english version, he just gives you a diploma).

OOPS the only one possible reason I can think of is you battled the wrong trainer.

I'm guessing you already got cut from S.S. Anne. Because if you surf around the S.S. Anne there's supposedly a Mew.
