The 3 original games were designed in such a way that you had to Trade in order to get all of the Pokemon. So trading is the way.

I found a level 3 pikachu within seconds. Walked to the 2nd to last patch of grass before battling a weedle and kakuna.
cheating-is-good answered:

Actually, I think that Pokemon Yellow has all the Pokemon on it Kenny. Blue has 75 Pokemon, Pokemon red has 75 pokemon. Pokemon Yellow has all 150 Pokemon I think.

But yes, in order to get a Pikachu on Pokemon Red, you will have to catch one on Pokemon Blue, and Trade it to Pokemon Red. You can find a Pikachu in the Viridian Forst grass areas. Just look around. Thats in Pokemon Blue by the way.

Hope this helps.

there are actually 14 pokemon that you cannot obtain through gameplay in Yellow.

Weedle
Kakuna
Beedrill
Ekans
Arbok
Raichu (just as in the anime, you cannot use the thunderstone on Pikachu)
Meowth
Persian
Koffing
Weezing
Jynx
Electabuzz
Magmar
Mew

I can't find pikachu 😭😭
beedizzle answered:

Try the power plant or Viridian forest and you should find it eventually, assuming the game isn't broken. Pikachu is definately in every version, I have all three and I have found it in all of them (ok in yellow you do start off with it). There is about 130 in each game you can get in the game without trading

clarissasy03 answered:

Try the power plant... There are many electric pokemons there...

1122andyozz33 answered:

Evee answered:

You can find Pikachu in all games, he is more commonly found in Viridian forest, just go north from the entrance!

Happy gaming,
Evee

Guest answered:

Funny thing is, I was just playing red whilst reading here how to get pikachu at start... Then I just caught one in Viridian forest, so yes, it is possible to get it in red without trading. Just takes a lil while.

Guest answered:

You can either spend time in Viridian forest to get pikachu in red and blue, although there is only like 5% chance of encountering one. You can also find it in the power plant, a place that can only be accessed once you get the surf HM, very very VERY much later in the game. It's probably a better choice to get a rare Pikachu in Viridian Forest because it will be useful in Cerulean City. But you can choose any way.

Guest answered:

Go to the power plant. You will find pikachu there

What does "right of the boy in front of the tree keep walking next to the stumps"?!!? I don't know what you're talking about!!!
Logancainster answered:

From what I've seen a lot of people think you can only get it in blue, but that isn't true, I am playing red at the same time as I'm typing this on a game boy and I just found two pikachus in a row in Viridian forest

Guest answered:

I found a few in the forest up at left side. Once you enter the forest go north then all the way west to the two tree stumps at the end. Go back and forth along those till you find one.

Guest answered:

Its not true, I have red and I caught pika a million times in Viridian forest!

Guest answered:

I caught 3 in a row on red version just look in verilian forest

Guest answered:

Listen To 1122Andyozz33 His Technique Worked In Three Battles For me

Guest answered:

I was playing Pokemon red it took for ever but I found a Pikachu just takes a while

Guest answered:

I heard they can be found at the back of Viridian forest

Aeon-Flux answered:

They are in different locations between Pokemon Red and Blue, Yellow you get one that follows you around.

Guest answered:

You can cheat or go to Veridian forest there is a patch of grass with Pikachu in it to the left of the big square.
