Decorations do nothing but decorate.
The best thing your mum gets you is a snolax big doll, but if you want really cool decorations, like supernes, plants, pictures, beds, and carpets, use mystery gift.

No, theres nothing special, only dolls and beds you get in mystery gift.
The best thing your mom can get you a different potions like super potions, when your money savings are high enough she'll buy you different things.
