Right, so first of all, way to go from one very complex and game play intensive Special Event to another! Yay Team! (Ah, yeah, that was sarcasm).... But that appears to be exactly what we have done - having segued from the Halloween 2014 Event to the American Dad slash Clam Festival Event.

Now on the one hand if you are feeling shell-shocked, well, you should be. This is turning out to be a brutal couple of months. On the other hand, if you Welcome the challenge than I say - Good on ya! Excellent! We will show this game thingy here how we roll!

Now, with that out of the way, let's discuss this new Special Event, shall we?

--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--

Warning Notice

Depending on how long you have played QfS and the experience you have had with the game you may - or you may not - be aware that the wizards behind the creation of the game have a habit of inserting special events that are incredibly game-play-intensive.

You might think to yourself, well, in the case of the Limited Time and Weekend Special Events that makes a certain sort of sense considering that those particular types of Event really are little more than thinly disguised ways for the wizards to induce us to spend real-world-money in order to obtain the items and/or Characters who are part of those events.

Basically unless the player is playing constantly and around the clock -- in which case they have just barely sufficient time to get all that must be done done before the time runs out -- they will be spending money if they want to get the objects, Buildings, and/or Characters. It is that simple...

An excellent example of that tactic is the special Limited Time Event involving Stewie's Clone Machine and all that goes along with it that happened to run during the American Dad Special Event over the weekend of 11/14 - 11/17... Due to the requirement that the player unlock and add the character of ***** Stewie to their game for several of the missions / quests.

Adding ***** Stewie literally required the player to stay in the game around the clock in order to collect the 200 DNA samples from the slow-spawning *******. It was not pretty. And while that can be excused by saying - hey, it is a special Limited Time Event, they didn't pretend it was anything else - they use the SAME tactics and mechanism in THIS Mission and Quest series, and this is not a limited time event it is actually a rather long one.

Therefore we warn you now, it may look like you have plenty of time to get all that needs to be doing done, and all that needs collecting collected, but invariably please do not be surprised if, as the event approaches the widely published ending date, you suddenly find yourself frantically trying to obtain all the items and resources that you somehow never quite managed to obtain during the weeks - WEEKS - that the event ran for!

You have been warned!

Welcome to the American Dad Cross-Over Event for Family Guy!
Welcome to the American Dad Cross-Over Event for Family Guy!

SE Introduction

The American Dad Clam Festival Event

Running from 8 November thru 4 December!

So as Brian would say, "Yeah! Welcome to the American Dad Event! And Clam Festival! And hopefully it is also a Bourbon Festival because this dog could use a drink..." OK enough channeling Brian.

Wait, no, one more comment from Brian: "You guys know this AD Event is going to segue directly into the Thanksgiving / Christmas Event, right?" Yeah, it had to be said...

Here is the official word, as shared by Tiny Co., as it pertains to this Special Event:

What's New - November 6, 2014

It's that time of year where Quahog goes cray cray for Clams. That's right, this month is the Quahog Clam Festival! You know what else is cray cray? Quahogians have reported an alien walking around. Could it be Roger from American Dad? Yes!! Don't be surprised if Stan, Steve and the rest of the Smith dfamily make an appearance.

In honor of the Quahog Clam Festival and American Dad, we are giving away free Clams! Simply watch featured American Dad videos and start collecting! Then you can brag to your friends about how many clams you have, maybe get into a big fight, and eventually become frenemies.

Tired of your frenemies? Sorry, we can't help you. If you're tired of your town, though, nuke it and start over with all of your Buildings and decorations placed in your inventory. Rebuild from the ground up, mixing in a little feng shui here or there. Happy building and thanks for playing!

If from that you gathered that there is a Nuke Button now in the game, well hey you pay attention don't you?!

The reason you may actually want to USE that Nuke Button is down to the overabundance of event Buildings, a need to clear away some open space for the NEW buildings and such, and a lack of desire to hunt and pack or even choose what goes even if temporarily.

Hey, don't worry, you will get there eventually - and with any luck they will add some new expansion slots so that we all can obtain that much needed open spaces. Just saying!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

SE Requirements

Before you get too excited there are some facts you need to be aware of, because if you do not happen to be a relative veteran of QfS you may not actually end up getting to celebrate this event... Sigh, I know, that is sad, and it sucks, but what can you do? You either get to have a Clam-tastic Time or not. And whether you do or not is so your fault.

So here are the basic requirements - and how this whole thing will begin:

  1. Have Quahog District 3 (Shopping District) Unlocked

  2. Have Peter Griffin Available

  3. Have Peter Griffin kick off the Shellebration Mission / Quest

  4. Clear Away some Open Space for the building stuff...

  5. Build the Clam Festival Stage

--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--

New Objects & Items

  • Area 51 Sign:-- $2000

  • Campsite ($1,500) Like sleeping in a hotel designed for smelly hippies...

  • Clam Festival Sign ($750) For those of you who can't read, the sign says "Welcome to Quahog Clam Day"

  • Crop Circle: -- $400

  • Lunar Landing (50C) Shot on the same sound stage as "Beethoven's 2nd."

  • Undercover American Flag: -- 10C

--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--

New decorations and objects for our Quahog
New decorations and objects for our Quahog

New Buildings & Structures

  • Clam Festival Stage:-- $500 -- $30 & 20 XP every 4h

  • Colonial Barn -- $1500 -- $30 & 20 XP every 4h (Stan Smith)

  • Groff Community College (75C) Drops Resource

  • Historical Clam Exhibition Hall -- $1000 -- $40 & 25XP every 6h

  • Moon Bounce (100C) Drops Resource

  • Smith House -- 100 Clams -- $40 & 25XP every 6h (Classified Documents Resource)

Warning: No effort has been made on the part of the wizards who create the game to ensure that there is adequate real estate actually available for the placement of these or any other Buildings.

In point of fact there is NOT adequate real estate. If you purchased and or collected all of the Buildings that you could purchase and/or collect for any two of the previous six events, you are now totally out of real estate, and that pre-supposes you have fully unlocked all of the expansion blocks that are available!

Helpful Hint: You should carefully examine all of the Buildings you have in your town that are any way connected to a previous event, and determine if those buildings are actually beneficial to you NOW, and for THIS EVENT. If the answer is that they are not convenient or applicable to this event, you should place said building or object in storage until such time as you have adequate real estate to place it in the game without the doing of it causing you any trouble for your current set of goals.

This is really good advice and we strongly urge you to take it...

The SE Missions & Quests

This is where we get to the nitty gritty - the missions and quests that make up this Special Event! Before we go too far into that though, there are a few things you should be aware of.

1. These missions and quests are listed in the order that the cropped up during the event, and not in some arbitrary order like, you know, alphabetically. That way you will have no trouble at all following along with the Progress.

Well, no trouble unless Brian's fraternity brother Rob Ford - now the ex-mayor of Toronto - comes to visit, because if that happens, well, let me put it this way: Crack, whiskey, and oh yeah, Crack.

2. While every effort has been made to psychically convince the missions and quests to appear in exactly the same order for us that they do for you, we make no promises.

Clam Day Catastrophe

As a general rule annual festivals such as Quahog Clam Days tend to be organized and run by the same people each year - that is good. When people who ordinarily do not contribute to such events decide to help out, that is bad... This is bad...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Clam Day Catastrophe Pt. 2

2. Have Quagmire Mix Drinks

Completing this Mission awards you with $100 and 75 XP.

2. Have Stan do Target Practice

  • x10 Photo Evidence -- Jerome Task / Colonial Barn

  • x8 Classified Documents -- Bruce, Chris Tasks / Smith House

  • x5 Crash Debris -- Lois, Peter, Mort, Jake Tasks

Completing Stan and unlocking him in a timely fashion essentially means putting any and all other missions and quests to focus upon Stan and his resource collection. If you do that you can reasonably expect to complete the resource collecting in under four days.

Completing this Mission awards you with $100 and 75 XP.

Wrapping Things Up

The event has officially ended - unofficially there is no end. A log of gamers have been pretty vocal and angry about the fact that there did not appear to be sufficient time - without spending a LOT of real-world money that is - to complete this. Here is the thing - that was never an issue.

As long as you actually placed the Characters - and you should have been able to do that - even though the event ended the quests go on - so you should have no trouble completing them and their quests! As you can see from the spotty Progress we were faced with the same issues - but we are working our way through the quests and getting them added here - and you can too!

So take heart - the Smiths will BE in your Quahog and no, you will not have to spend lots of money to make that happen....

Leaving you with a positive family-friendly impression for this Level!

OK no no no! We really can simply NOT leave you thinking tha tthe image above - a candid snap of Quahog's favorite son, Peter Griffin....

Nano-Nano Roger Smith! May the Force Be With You Always!
Nano-Nano Roger Smith! May the Force Be With You Always!

So to correct that we present you with the official Welcome snap for Quahog's newest moral and upstanding entrepreneur - and as far as we know its ONLY extraterrestrial - resident, one Roger Smith!

Oh and one more thing - with the American Dad Cross-Over Event having officially ended that really annoying video ad guy Carl? Yeah, he is gone. See it turns out that he was actually an unpaid intern and when the University of Massachusetts found out that the wizards had him doing forced advertising, well, let's just say that UMASS will not be sending Interns to Family Guy anymore...

All of the related content - the shop, the campsite and all - is STILL available in the store. As long as you have the actual characters placed even if you have not fully unlocked them you can continue the quests.

So... I bought all of the characters on time! But... How do I get megaphones for Hailey now? Among other things, without spending money?? 0.o

So I placed all the characters and am still able to do their quests, but I missed out on buying the campsite for Haley's questline and it was an event item. Is that quest going to be forever on my quest log or what? Is there any way to get it?

OK I totally understand your feelings on this. Technically they ARE giving enough time, but only if you are playing the game every 2 to 4 hours pretty much around the clock. Which, come to think of it, we are. But we should not HAVE to - I get that and agree.

I'm getting so discouraged with the game simply because they are not giving the true gamers enough time to get the needed and wanted the characters without spending loads of money so sad....
