Part 0: Purely Optional Quests

Thank you for printing this page from www.SuperCheats.com. Remember to come back to check for updates to this guide and much more content for Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff

Last Updated:

Please bear in mind that this is a new game, and a new guide - we are writing this guide as we play the game, so the newest section of the guide represents the place we are actually at in the game. As omniscience is not one of the skills with which we are gifted, we can only include the content that we have experienced ourselves.

Yes, we are aware that there are other objects, Outfits, missions, quests, and events that exist in the game, and we have not intentionally left out those contents in the game guide - we just have not experienced them, and as a result, we don't include them here because this guide is written from facts.

Thanks for your patience as we proceed in creating the Unofficial SuperCheats Guide to Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff!

--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--

As you may have noticed this is really the first Part to the Walkthrough and Guide, though because it contains the purely optional Quests it is not treated as the first Part through the rest of the WTG...

What you have here are the Quests you can do -- or not -- it is entirely up to you. Some of them require direct real-world money to be spent and some require Clams, which if you think about it amounts to the same thing.

For the most part the reason that they are optional is because they require you to spend real-world money, which is something that a lot of players will not do out of principle and others will not do out of necessity.

No matter what category you fall into know that these Quests are in the game, they are there, and you do NOT HAVE to do them....

What you should know though is that Characters are obtained for the most part via buying and placing Buildings in your Quahog. Premium Buildings (the ones that cost Clams) are therefore the trigger for obtaining Premium Characters.

Each Premium Character has its own Quest Line associated with it. If you buy their building and thus you get that Premium Character added to your game, you then have access to their Quest Line. If you don't, then you don't.

Under-leveled Characters

One thing you should be aware of is that due to the fact that the Premium Characters start out late in the game relatively speaking, they are all chronically under-leveled. With most of the regular characters between their own wide Quest Lines and being pulled into the Quests of other regular characters, they level up pretty fast.

With Premium Characters, since they are isolated in terms of their Quest Lines, they tend to level up really slow -- especially when they only have one or two Quests for you to use to level them, and those Quests tend to be longer (a lot are about 2h for their timers).

Because of that it will feel like you are always needing to level them up in order to do the next Quest because they are NEVER at the level you need them to be at - the level required by the next Quest.

All of that is true. We assume that the reason that was allowed to happen is that logically the developers sort of expect that since you were willing to spend money to get that character, you will be willing to spend more money helping them level up.

I don't know about that - the one does not necessarily follow the other! I know a lot of players who will work very hard at saving up the Premium Currency, or buy some even if they are on a tight budget -- in order to add specific Characters to their game, and those are not the sort of player who will willingly spend money to level a character. Just saying.

You have to decide what is right for you but, when the question is leveling up a Premium Character, since you are in this game for the long-haul anyway, what difference does it really make if it takes an extra day or three to level a character to do the next Quest? I mean, really?

Buy 1 Get 1 Free

Description: "Golden Clams can speed up construction. Don't keep Peter waiting!

Details: Buy a Box of Coins and get $4.99 of Clams for free!

Essentially this will give you $1,300 and 130 Clams for $4.99 -- which is usually the price of one or the other -- so you get the Clams for free. This also completes the Quest.

If you opt not to do this Quest after a time it will disappear from your Quest List and never reappear. Your call.

Beef Up Your Manpower

Description: Expand your workforce, rebuild, and reap the benefits of cheap labor!

Details: Pay 50 Clams and add a second worker/builder to your labor pool.

Beef Up Your Manpower Pt. 1

This Quest is obtained by clicking on the Builder's Shed -- the small white building that originally appears in the upper left-hand corner of the play screen when the game first starts (and is still there unless you moved it -- which you probably did in order to make more efficient use of the available space).

Whether you saved up the 50 Clams or you completed Quest S01, this is the first thing I spent Clams on in the game and I suggest that you do as well. Even if you only do this first part, it is well worth it to have the second builder -- and it adds a second floor to that dilapidated and dangerous deathtrap of a builder's shed! Win-Win!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Beef Up Your Manpower Pt. 2

Description: Expand your workforce, rebuild, and reap the benefits of cheap labor!

Details: Pay 125 Clams and add a third worker/builder to your labor pool.

This Quest is obtained by clicking on the Builder's Shed -- the small white two-story building that originally appears in the upper left-hand corner of the play screen when the game first starts (and is still there unless you moved it -- which you probably did in order to make more efficient use of the available space).

I want to repeat that this is purely optional -- you know that already of course because this is the Optional Quest Section of the WTG but still it needs saying. Personally I have had no trouble getting by with two builders -- but if you have a more aggressive play style you may need this extra set of hands, only you can say.

Whether you saved up the Clams by collecting them from the odds and ends that pay in Clams or whether you made use of S01, either way if you are asking our opinion there are worse things you can spend Clams on and this really will pay off in expanded game speed. While I did not see the need, there is no reason you can not, and besides any time you spend premium currency making the game better is Clams well spent!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Beef Up Your Manpower Pt. 3

Description: Expand your workforce, rebuild, and reap the benefits of cheap labor!

Details: Pay 250 Clams and add a fourth worker/builder to your labor pool.

Completing this optional Quest will add the fourth and final Builder to your Town. After you add him you can then work on up to four Builder-Required Quests / Activities at any time.

If you have the Clams this is a highly recommended Quest to do - in fact of all of the Optional and Standard Quests in which you are required to spend Clams, this is the only Quest line that I can say without any reservations that it is worth the expense.

If you are playing the game with the goal of not spending real-world money, this is one of the Quests that I strongly recommend you save your Clams for - bearing in mind that this would be a very long term Clam saving strategy, but well worth it!

Limited Time Red Light Special

Buy Hooker Peter before the timer runs out!

This is an optional Quest that also appears in the main WTG in the Part II: A Phoenix from the Ashes Section listed there as Q046: Limited Time Red Light Special.

This Quest is part of the whole "get you to buy" Clams issue - basically if you complete buying Hooker Peter before the timer runs out you get all 600 Clams back. If you either do not have the 600 Clams or do not want to bother the timer will run out after an hour and the icon will delete from your Quest Book. So no worries!

Grumpy Side Up

As you are playing through the story in the main quests you will occasionally see a pop-up prompting you to purchase a Premium item, object, or building -- such as this one that offers to instantly add the Premium Character of Jake Tucker to your game with the purchase of the Premium Building The Quahog Church for 50 Clams.

Grumpy Side Up Pt. 1

This Quest and its Quest Line technically begins as Q0035 in the main story but that is the first and only Quest that will Reference it in the main story sections.

Purchasing the Church will instantly add it and the Jake Tucker Character to your game, and complete this Quest.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Grumpy Side Up Pt. 2

Being temporarily an orphan Peter decides that Jake will come and live in the Griffin House until other arrangements are possible. To complete this Quest Jake needs to be a sarcastic and grumpy difficult to get on with person -- a teenager in other words.

Have him complete the following Task:

Be a Jerk (4h) $50 and 30 XP.

Completing this Quest also rewards you with $100 and 65 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Grumpy Side Up Pt. 3

Jake as some Opportunities for Entertainment...

While Peter wants Jake to Entertain Him which he can do by acting normal (sort of) the bigger picture seems to be ignored. To move this one forward have Jake complete the following Task:

Be Normal (8h) $80 and 50 XP.

Completing this Quest also results in an award of $200 and 130 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Grumpy Side Up Pt. 4

Peter takes Jake to play the organ at Church.

While Jake would rather stay home and play Xbox Peter had decided that Church is the more appropriate place to spend the day - which if you think about it is pretty strange -- but anyway to complete this one you need to have Jake reach Level 3 and then complete the following Task:

Play the Organ (12h) $100 and 65 XP.

Completing this Quest also results in an award of $300 and 195 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Grumpy Side Up Pt. 5

Despite the fact that Jake not only plays the organ for Church but is a world-class talent at it, his special contribution to the world actually appears to be testing Peter's resolve... So giving the devil his due -- or in this case an Imp some Ice Cream, help Jake complete the following Task:

Eat Ice Cream (1h) $20 and 12 XP.

Completing this also rewards you with $400 and 260 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Grumpy Side Up Pt. 6

Peter buys Jake a meal before setting him free... First you need to level Jake to Level 4, and then you need to help Jake complete the following Task:

Eat Upside Down Kids Meal (6h) $65 and 45 XP.

Completing this also rewards you with $500 and 350 XP.

--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--

No, No, no...

Peter needs the help of the family maid, Consuela, to clean up the mess he has made of the Griffin House on Spooner Street! Unlock Consuela Instantly! Warning: This is a Premium Quest...

No, No, no... Pt. 1

You can choose not to complete it with no penalty other than not having Consuela -- this Quest does NOT hang around in your Quest Book shaming you which is good since 300 Clams, wow, that is a lot...

Spending the 300 Clams to build her house on the other hand instantly adds her to your town, and completes this Quest, giving you yet another character with which to earn XP and Coin! So hey, good on ya!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

No, No, no... Pt. 2

Consuela needs money for Cleaning Supplies... So she will need to argue with Peter about it! Note that to do this Quest you need to have both Consuela AND Peter available before it can be initiated. When both are available have Consuela complete the following Task:

Heated Argument (30m) $25 and 15 XP.

Completing this Quest also rewards you with $100 and 65 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

No, no, no... Pt. 3

Consuela cleans the Griffin house, and takes some souvenirs... For this one you need to have Consuela complete her Task BUT before you can do that, you have to get her to Level 2 -- she is not at that Level at the moment, and as she only has the one Task that she can do - Heated Argument - that means you will have to do that until she levels (and that means tying up Peter as well)...

Once you get her to Level 2 though, you can have her complete the following Task:

You will also be rewarded with $200 and 130 XP for her efforts!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

No, no, no... Pt. 4

Conseula Starts Cleaning the Town -- and she needs your help to get the job done!

To complete this Quest though you will need to level Consuela to Level 3 -- which can be a rather frustrating part of the entire Optional Quest Lines. You will find that ALL of them have this impediment, and require delays and extra leveling in order to make them viable.

We cannot help but wonder if this was not put into the game as a Clam Sink - you know, you paid real-world money for the character, why not coax you into doing the same to level it? Ah, the pain of wealth.

Once you have her at the proper Level -- Level 3 -- have her do the following Task:

Clean the Town (6h) $65 and 45 XP.

While doing this Task there is a chance for Consuela to receive a Lipstick Resource -- which you will need for the Help Lois Quest Line (which is flagged via purchase and building of the Stop 'N Shop).

Competing this Task also rewards you with $300 and 195 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

No, no, no... Pt. 5

Consuela helps clean the Swanson House -- get Conseula to Level 4 and then have her do the following Task:

Scrub Skidmarks (12h) $100 and 65 XP.

Competing this Task also rewards you with $400 and 260 XP.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

No, no, no... Pt. 6

Consuela goes to her second job -- so get her to Level 5 and then have her do the following Task:

Make a Snack (24h) $150 and 100 XP.

Competing this Task also rewards you with $500 and 350 XP.

Special Event: Rare Fare

Welcome! This is our coverage of one of the Special Event Mini-Missions called "Rare Fare" which is a limited time (there is actually a timer running for it which you can see in the icon for the Mission in the Mission Finder display that is part of the Clip board in the bottom-left-hand-corner of the play screen).

This limited time mini-Mission covers special animals that may be added to the game as animal NPCs using the premium currency of Clams. The following apply to this event:

Rare Fare Pt.1

Place all three exotic animals to get a free Fancy Restaurant which drops exotic seashells and wine. Ends Monday.

1. Place Guardian Crab (25 Clams)

2. Place Lawn Tiger (50 Clams)

3. Place Peterdactyl (100 Clams)

Purchase and place the trio of special animals listed above to complete this Mission, which also awards you with $100 and 65 XP.

This part of the Mission is completed after you purchase and place the third special NPC animal. Bear in mind that you do not have to place any of these in one of your character's lawns - that is just part of the text describing the event. They can be placed in any free location on the map (which not to harp on it but is one of the reasons why we constantly remind you to clear land).

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Rare Fare Pt. 2

Visit the Shop to place your free Fancy Restaurant. You can place this anywhere that is open on the map - if you have been working on orderly zones you may want to place this in the same zone or District as your other restaurants. Just saying. To complete this part of the Mission you will need to open the In-Game Store and select the Fancy Restaurant icon.

1. Place Fancy Restaurant.

Completing this Task will award you $100 and 65 XP.
