As of launch there are 22 Characters attached to buildings in the game (so far) and unlocked by purchasing and placing or building the related building.
The Characters/buildings are distributed throughout the seven zones of the game -- well, technically there are just 6 zones or districts, the 7th is basically what we think of as the non-zone. hey, just roll with it OK?
You will note that I qualified the character count above with a “so far” -- I did that for a reason. Word on the street is that as they expand the content the plan is to add Characters/buildings to the different zones so we will see the population increase for sure.
Each character that you unlock is cause to celebrate - and a source for Coin and XP!
Plus it should be noted that the show has a rich selection of Characters with lots of backstory and lore, and while the character stories are thin on the ground at the moment (late April) considering that the game is less than half-a-month old I think it is actually doing pretty good!

Critical Mass
It should not come as a surprise that unlocking and adding Characters to your town/game -- as quickly as you can -- will only be a good thing in terms of your future success in the game. The more characters you hae the more Tasks and Quests you have access to, which means the more XP and cash!
While each character is connected to a building -- and you CAN simply place the building for the character you want to add to your game and thus add them to your game, the actual characer and building connections are part of the Quest system.
That being the case, when you add a building -- and thus a character -- without being prompted to -- in effect you are doing a piece of a future Quest early. That is a good thing as far as we are concerned since it basically removes the time delays ususally associated with that process when you are working a Quest. So hey, go for it!
As you work though the early Quest structure it should become pretty obvious to you that the wizards at TinyCo made significant effort to fold into that process as much of the lore and backstory from the television show as they could manage without it being too in-your-face.
Though if you think about it, with the world being as small as it is at the start, you cannot swing a cat by its tail without slapping into a Quest you haven't started yet!
So with that in mind we thought it might be helpful to you if we included a basic listing of the Characters and buildings -- sorted by zone/district -- so you have an idea as to which you can unlock now and which Unlocks are approaching.
Remember there are six “official” zones/districts while the seventh is an unoffical and all-encompassing zone/district that is everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. The Characters that are flagged as part of that zone/district either unlock by special circumstances or require you to Progress the Quests from previous zones/districts.
Each new District you unlock improves the population of your Quahog...

* If you did NOT unlock and add Cleveland Brown during the Full Moon Event you CAN NOT add him now. Rumor has it that TinyCo's QfS Wizards are working on a way to add him for players who failed to add him during the Full Moon Event - but it will more than likely end up being a Premium Purchase...

Outfit Unlock Order
Depending on how lucky you were in terms of resource collecting or how much in Clams you were willing to spend on special buildings that directly spawned the resources that were required for the Outfits you may have unlocked these in a different order than we did, so take this with a grain of salt please... In fact we are not even shooting for anything but the general order, umkay?

How do you unlock death
Howdy! I've been trying to unlock Stewy for almost two weeks. The plutonium is killing me. Are there any tricks to getting these rare items to drop?

I almost had Cleveland jr unlocked but I looked today and he is locked back up help
Av unlocked all of the district's how do I get more land av run out of space abs there is more items I need

I have made it to the code and its there alright just you have to have every single character on family guy and since there is events every month it will take about 5 years
Is there some kind of trick I don't know about for unlocking stewie, I've been stuck for about 2mts now. I have 5 of the plutonium but every time I make lois ir Brian do a task that involves getting one they never do...it's just frustrating
i am stuck on the mission for golden suit peter. it says he wants a suit so hot in the sun that he dies. i have unlocked golden suit peter and done both missions related to golden suit peter and it says he still not competed the mission. anyone help pls

What point in qfs do you start to participate in events?
I'm noticing a character (not sure who) that appears, and supposedly you click on him to watch a video to gain free clams (+2 clams). The problem is, there's a message that reads 'Sorry, there are no videos available at this time'. Why have this, if there are no videos?
Also, I think everyone that plays this game should post complains, not just on the amount that it costs for each item, but the availability 'of' that item, which means, getting rid of the 'common, uncommon, rare and extra rare' BS, so that when you complete a task, you get the items you need to proceed through the game. I've read where people have said that they've lost the opportunity to gain a character because they've ran out of time, but I would guess that another part is that they are not getting the necessary items too (example: having to get an item 20 to 30 times, while the character requires four different items to unlock it).
Since Mayor West is absolutely required to move the story forward you are basically stuck until you DO unlock him mate.
What happens if you unlock the district for Mayor West, but you do not get him?
Sorry there is no way to unlock him after the event ends.
Is there any way I could unlock Nathan Fillion after the even has ended?
Right now Cleveland costs 400 clams but there's only a 10 clam reward for getting all "the guys". This is just nonsense. He shouldn't cost so much but if he's going to there should be a serious clam/quest reward.
Mayor West has gone into hiding, he's not supposed to appear at the town hall.
Once you reach the required level - and you have unlocked the required District, the Library will appear in the buildings menu of the in-game store. Until then, it will not.
How do you get the library I don't see it to buy anywhere
If you built the library than it is placed somewhere in your town, or you have it in your storage. Note that the Library is a building that you place and construct - it is NOT a gimme structure.
I am not sure how but I can't find the quahog library... Anyone having the same issue?

The unlocks are quest and not level based. So basically you work your way through the quest lines to unlock them.
Could you tell me at what level the various districts unlock at?
Could you add at what levels the different districts unlock?
Kool-Aid man, Mr. Weed, Francis Griffin, and Diane Simmons are new characters aswell as the new Halloween costumes
Not sure why that is - try removing the building to storage and replacing it as if a character is attached to it that should cause it to be pulled and replaced?
I bought city hall but no mayor??
