Thanks to you, the Research Department has been able to continue the analysis of the Runners, and has determined that all the agile sub-species of the walking dead share a common characteristic: they seem particularly well-adapted to hot, arid environments – as if their origin was literally in the desert. Perhaps this is just a red herring – or perhaps we are on the right track. Either way, Lieutenant, we need you to deploy in the barren region of the Hades Dunes, confront the strongest Zombies and infrom the Research Department of your findings – should there be any.

Lieutenant, research into the specimens captured in the Hades Dunes has confirmed our earlier suspicions: whatever the source of the Outbreak was, it must have been born in the desert. Even though the creatures can adapt exceptionally well to other environments, their biology betrays their desert origins. Yet as we continue research, we must not forget of our primary task – securing our land. There is only one city left in the entire southeast with any zombie presence left at the moment, and that is where you are to be deployed tonight. Wipe out the walking corpses, win back the city – and let us reclaim a whole ner location on our map.

Lieutenant, we have an emergency that will require you to revisit some old haunts. Remember the Runner’s Challenge? A herd of Sprinters seems to have taken liking to the same area now, and they have been roaming that part of the desert for over two days. Fortunately, our presence there means that you will be able to use some of the supplies we have already delivered to the location – including APCs and some construction Bulldozers. Ride them hard, Lieutenant!
