Campaign Part 1: We Will Endure (3 of 8)

This time around your goal is to survive numerous invasions... You can play this either on Cayo de Fortuna or Bao-bao...

We recommend you use the standard settings:

Island: Cayo de Fortuna

Economic Difficulty: Medium

Political Difficulty: Medium

Disasters: Occasional

You begin this Mission with the following resources:and buildings that you ended the previous mission for that island with. The difference is the advancing in era means you now have paved roads and automobiles and trucks in place of donkey carts and dirt roads!

During the first attack chances are pretty good you are going to not only be defeated, but lose some of your buildings and resources as a result. The Order will negotiate a cease-fire for you that will last as long as 8-years - and you need to use that time to build up the military defenses of your island.

The way that the cease-fire works is rather complicated - but as long as you are able to maintain the building pace for ALL of the military-related Tasks you get, the cease-fire gets extended. Easily from the initial 8 years to nearly 15.

Mission 3 - We Will Endure

You will also need to explore the island and locate Coal Mines so you can begin to export that resource as part of the requirements for the Mission...

Chances are as you connect the various mines you will unlock the Achievement Infrastructor (10G) Built more than 2000 meters of roads in a single game. You should also have unlocked the Achievement Mine! All Mine! (20G) Mined 100,000 ores and coal in a single game.

The real challenge for this Mission is not so much defending against the attacks, but managing to build the military infrastructure you need to defend from the attacks while at the same time keeping both the economy on track AND the people happy - that last bit is the most difficult.

There is also the choice you have to make - Allies or Axis - and then stick with it.

One warning you should take to heart though - if you fail to keep the people happy - and you will know you are failing when rebel attacks happen - you have to work quickly to correct that because if you get enough rebel attack events, it will end the Mission in failure.

Best Advice: The enemy - when they attack - will arrive with several units of infantry as well as several tank units.

You field units at the rate of one (1) tank unit per Military Base, and one (1) infantry unit per Barracks. That being so, you are seriously going to want to built MORE than just the two Barracks and two Military Bases that the game prompts you to via the Tasks.

My philosophy on this Mission - and what worked best for me - was to divide my efforts between maintaining at least 50 Happiness in each area for the people, while building a really strong economy so I could build LOTS of Bases and Barracks.

I suggest a minimum of five (5) Bases and five (5) Barracks but more is better. If you do build that then you will unlock the Achievement Think Tanks (30G) Had 5 Army Bases in a single game. If you are properly keeping your population happy, you will also unlock the Achievement A Barrel of Monkeys (30G) Earned $50,000 yearly revenue from Entertainment buildings.

With a minimum of five of each building (units) you have a better than even chance of winning. Add another few Infantry and a sixth Tank unit - as long as their bases are not spread too thin and too far away from each other - and you will easily smash the enemy.

Remember though, you need to keep the people happy and the economy going while you build your military defenses, and you also need to complete as many of the Tasks you get as possible.

I finished this mission with only 2 military bases, 3 barracks, 60 points of popularity (or happiness), and 120 000 in cash. Quite easy mission so I would not exaggerate ;) but still quite interesting.
