Campaign Part 2: Through the Looking Glass (2 of 7)

First I just want to say well done you! Hopefully you completed the first Mission of the second campaign nicely and leaving the island in a good state.

Now that we have been reunited with our Dynasty Member and established ourselves in this time line it is time - no pun intended - for us to get down to serious work. I don't want to stress this too much, but all of the lessons that we learned in previous levels should apply here - try to build in a very intentionally organized manner, and always leave a Mission with the island in as good shape as you can manage. That is the key to success in the future missions.

For this Mission we are headed to Isla Rojo, where we need to build a very solid infrastructure and then export tons of resources - tons! The recommended settings for this are:

Island: Isla Rojo

Economic Difficulty: Medium

Political Difficulty: Medium

Disasters: Occasional

As with the previous island we arrive with very little in terms of infrastructure - so we need to begin at the beginning - building a library and renewable resources in order to create the seed for the economy.

Through the Looking Glass

One thing you should try to always do though is NOT waste natural resources. If possible build Lumber Camps to log the trees rather than simply building on top of them, thus destroying those trees and deleting the good that they can do you!

The primary goals for this Mission are:

  • Export 100.000 Resources in just10 years;

  • Make it rain - gain a treasury of $10.000 - this is tasked randomly;

  • Build 3 docks;

  • Build 5 Mansions;

  • Round One Fight - Chose between Export Quota or Prices...

Simple enough really - if not for that pesky timer! But bear in mind that just like with the previous missions, when you complete a Task assigned by the Crown you have the option to add additional time to the timer for your appointment - but NOT the Task - which means you get considerably more than 10 years to accomplish this one in terms of the time you have as ruler, but only 10 years to actually do it in terms of shipping out the resources. So get busy!

The Round One Fight random Task will - if you either get a Draw or Win - extend the timer for the Task by 12 Months.

Exploration

One of the most important things you can do for this Mission is get the island explored as quickly as possible - and bear in mind that the upper section of the island is ALSO both explorable AND exploitable. So be sure to include that...

You Call That Navigation?? Part II

Your Peeps

As with the previous missions part of your overall goal should be Independence - and achieving that will mean gaining the respect and will of the people.

So look to solving the housing issue early in the Mission - that will help a lot. But also bear in mind that your island will need the support buildings - like the Grocery - intermixed with the housing..

Completion as Failure

One of the odd things about this Mission is that as you complete it, you sort of fail too - mostly because Leon King helps the other-you gain Independence from the Crown as you succeed in shipping the massive amount of resources from your Island....

Obviously there is nothing you can do about that - you have to play the hand you are dealt and that failure is built into the story, but keep it in mind nevertheless.

Once you complete the target goal the Mission ends abruptly - but no worries you will be back!
