Kyogre, Groudon & Rayquaza

The third generation did accomplish something that had never been done before in Pokemon before that time; for the first time ever, not one but two Legendary Trios were released in one generation. The Weather Trio of the Hoenn Region were the mascots of the Generation and its Games - much like Lugia and Ho-Oh to the second generation - consisting of Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza.

The old story of the Hoenn Region goes that a long time ago, Groudon and Kyogre were at war and only Rayquaza could stop the feud and save the Hoenn Universe. In the later, sixth generation remakes of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald (Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire), it was made known that the battle that actually first took place was still between Groudon and Kyogre, but in their natural, Primal Forms. These forms consist of more power and destruction, and it took Rayquaza to Mega Evolve, the first Mega Evolution of all time, to stop the first war.

Groudon is a Fire-Type Pokemon, while its Primal Evolution (Reversion) had the dual typing of Fire and Ground. In both forms, Groudon is more a bulky Physical Attacker; however, in its Primal Form, Groudon now has some more Special Attack power.

In both its normal and Primal Form, Kyogre remains a sole Water-Type Pokemon. Also in each form, Kyogre is used solely as Special Attacker. It was given some more Physical Attacking power with its Primal Evolution, but Kyogre doesn't have the movepool to properly execute using it.

Now Mega Rayquaza is, frankly, one of the greatest Pokemon known to man. One top of having great speed and some of the highest Physical and Special Attacking power in existence, Mega Rayquaza also has the privilege of holding an item, something that no other Mega Evolution or Primal Evolution can do. On top of all of its power, Mega Rayquaza was given even more with this.

#382 - Kyogre: The first member of the weather trio, much like the second member, is only found in a total of four Games. In Sapphire and Alpha Sapphire, Kyogre can be captured in the Cave of Origin apart of the main storyline. In Pokemon Heart Gold it can be found in Hidden Tower after the main storyline is complete, plus in Marine Cave in Pokemon Emerald. It also has been given away in a few events.

#383 - Groudon: As expected, Groudon is apart of all the sets of Games that Kyogre is, just the complete opposite. It too can be found in the Cave of Origin, but apart of the storyline in Ruby and Omega Ruby. It can also be found in the Hidden Tower, but in Soul Silver. It also can be found at Level 70 in Terra Cave in Emerald. It too has been apart of a number of Pokemon Events.

#384 - Rayquaza: Unlike the other two Pokemon apart of the Trio, Rayquaza can be found in all the Games that Kyogre and Groudon are apart of. It can be found at the Sky Pillar (but at different times in each) in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire, as well as in the Hidden Tower in both Heart Gold and Soul Silver (after obtaining both Groudon and Kyogre and receiving the Jade Orb).
