Again, like the first two generation of Pokemon prior to it, the third generation gave us another Legendary Duo the Eon Duo of Latias and Latios. Unlike all Pokemon before them, Latias and Latios were actually the first to be given genders (Latias is female while Latios is male), instead of the genderless title so many Legendary Pokemon now have.
Also unlike other Legendary and Mythical Pokemon before their time, Latias and Latios had no real legend behind that came along with them. They had the power and rarity of any other Legend, but all that is still known about them is that they protect and are able to harness the power of the Soul Dew. Besides this, Latias and Latios, along with there Mega Evolutions, are still an enigma to the Pokemon Universe.
Both Eon Pokemon possess incredible Special Attack Ability, but Latias was given the role of a more defensive Pokemon while Latios was given one of more speed and power. Both, as mentioned, are able to use the Soul Dew to boost both their Special Attack and Defense by x1.5. They can even Mega Evolved as few other Legendary Pokemon can; Mega Latios is still considered the better competitive Pokemon of the two, and really in both forms.
#380 - Latias: The first of the Eon Duo can be found in a number of Games, on Southern Island back in Ruby or roaming the Hoenn Region after defeating the Elite Four in Sapphire. It can also be found either on Southern Island or Roaming Hoenn in Emerald. It can even be found in the second generation remakes, roaming Kanto in Heart Gold or in Pewtwer City in Soul Silver (must have Enimga Stone Event). It can also be found in White 2 in the Dreamyard, and in both Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on Southern Island (OmegaRuby requires the Eon Ticket that can be obtained online).
#381 - Latios: Now you can find Latios in the same exact areas as Latias, but inverted: it will be roaming the region in Ruby and on Southern Island in Sapphire; in Emerald on Southern Island or roaming the region; roaming Kanto in Soul Silver or in Petwer City after the Enigma Event in Heart Gold; in the Dreamyard in Black 2, not White 2; and on Southern Island in both third generation remakes (needing the Eon Ticket in Alpha Sapphire to find it there).
