Is It Even Possible To Catch All The Pokemon? What About For Every Game? And What Is Trading?

Last Updated:

And the answer to that question is yes, and for every game too. It takes a whole lot of time and a little creativity, but take it from this trainer who has completed EVERY Pokedex since Day 1. It can be done.

Most Pokemon Games have exclusive Pokemon to each game since they are usually released in sets at the same time, so it isn't possible to find every single Pokemon, including the hard-to-find Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, in one single game.

In Pokemon Red and Blue, your best shot at finishing the Pokedex was catching all the possible Pokemon and their Evolution in the version you have, and then trading with someone who had the opposite version for the remaining Pokemon you need. Trading has ALWAYS been the greatest technique to attaining all the Pokemon known to man, as it saves you the the time of personally finding every last Pokemon. It wasn't so easy back in Pokemon Red and Blue, and even Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, as you actually needed a number of cables in order to just to trade for a few Pokemon.

But now, and since that early time, trading has become increasingly easier to coordinate through Wi-Fi Capabilities. Since the fourth generation Games, trainers could exchange Friend Code with friends online and in the real world and set up times to trade for the Pokemon they need. The Games have also include a feature known as the GTS, where you can deposit a Pokemon and ask for a specific Pokemon in return.

And now, in the sixth generation Games, there is also a feature known as Wonder Trade where you can send a random Pokemon away in return for another random Pokemon. Be aware though that Wonder Trade Users usually trade low-level Pokemon that can easily be obtained by breeding in-game. Some people are more nicer than that and actually send a good Pokemon, but that number is few.

Trading has been essential since the beginning of Pokemon time, created with Arceus the Pokemon God and all, in order to achieve the goal of completing the National Pokedex. And there are many places online to find a trade partner to get the Pokemon you need.
