The first trial your player can take on in the Special
Demo Version technically begins when the Demo is begun. You're player and his mother will immediately go to register their citizenship in
Hau'oli City, and you will quickly met the character Hau from there.
Right after you begin exploring with
Hau, you will be confronted by and challenged by
Team Skull. Both you will and Hau will go in a single
Battle versus one of the grunts. The grunt that squares off with you only has a Yungoos, making for a very easy defeat with your incredibly strong Greninja.
After a quick defeat,
Team Skull will scurry off and you'r player will quickly meet the Professor of
The Alola Region. He will encourage you to take the first challenge at
Ten Carat Hill, which can be accessed in the northwest corner of
Hau'oli City. Ten Carat Hill, at this point, is pretty empty outside a few wild
Grasses that have only Yungoos, Pikipek and Rockruff. Follow the patches of grass and you will soon come to a cave that the Professor is inside.
He will then challenge your trainer to take the first trial, which is taking pictures of Pokemon in the cave. Accept, and he will give you the special
Rotom Pokedex to take the photos with and his buddy
Pikachu. You must take the photos of two Jangmo-o and two Hakamo-o separately.
Finding these Pokemon are pretty simple, since all you must do is follow their cry. In all seriousness, the game basically takes you from one to the next. The real challenge is defeating these Pokemon in
Battle, since all of them will attack your trainer after being startled by the camera snap.
The last Hakamo-o is a Totem Pokemon, which means it receives a boost to one of its
Stats (Sp.Def here) and can call on other wild Pokemon to help it in
Battle. Since it will call another Pokemon in this battle, this will be the first
Time your Greninja has a chance to turn into its
Ash-Greninja form.
After defeating it, the trial is over. However,
Team Skull returns with one of the Admins,
Plumeria. She will go into
Battle with you, who is encouraged by the Professor to use his
Pikachu with its exclusive Z-Move. And since she only has a Golbat, she too makes for an easy defeat, a one-hit knockout to be exact if you use that Z-Move.
After losing,
Team Skull leaves, and the
Demo automatically saves as you player returns to
Hau'oli City. The first trial and part of the game has been completed.
