In The Alola Region, HMs have been done away with, primarily because of the New concept of Poke Ride. With Poke Ride, you are able to use the Ride Pager (obtained from Kahuna Hala after you first Grand Trial, accessed by clicking the Y Button in the overword) to call upon Pokemon to ride on to do a number of things. There are seven different Poke Ride Pokemon.

Poke Ride Pokemon

Tauros Charge Allows you to ride on Tauros for faster travel, with the ability to break through larger rocks with charging by holding the B Button. Also, wild Pokemon are 50% less likely to appear when riding Tauros. This Poke Ride is unlocked after defeating your First Grand Trial.

Stoutland Search Allows you to ride on a Stoutland for a slightly fast travel, with the ability to sniff for hidden items by holding the B Button. Also, wild Pokemon are 50% less likely to appear when riding Stoutland. This Poke Ride in unlocked by Mallow in Paniola Ranch.

Mudsdale Gallop Allows you to ride on Mudsdale, which is actually the slowest of all the Poke Ride Pokemon, with the ability to traverse rocky land by holding the B Button in a gallop. Also, wild Pokemon are 33.3% less likely to appear when riding Mudsdale. This Poke Ride is unlocked by Hapu on Route 12.

Machamp Shove Allows for you to ride on Machamp, with the ability to move boulders by holding the B Button to shove them out of your way. This Poke Ride is unlocked by Hapu's Grandmother in Ancient Poni Path.

Lapras Paddle Allows for you to ride upon the seas with the help of Lapras, with the ability to paddle faster by holding the B Button. Also, wild Pokemon are 50% less likely to appear when riding Lapras. This Poke Ride is unlock during your Island Trial with Lana.

Sharpedo Jet Allows for you to ride upon the waters with the help of Sharpedo, with the ability to jet through both Water and rocks by holding the B Button. Also, wild Pokemon are 66.6% less likely to appear when riding Sharpedo. This Poke Ride is unlocked by Grimsley on Route 15.

Chariard Glide Allows for you to ride upon Charizard and be flown to any city in The Alola Region. This Poke Ride is unlocked after defeating Captain Kiawer's Trial.
