Added:

Unlike previous Generations, the Mechanics for Fishing has changed significantly in The Alola Region. For starters, there is now only one Fishing Rod. On top of that, trainers can no longer fish in any Body of Water. Instead, they can only fish where it has been denoted by a combination of rocks with a hole in the middle, found on coastlines or at sea. The following locations have fishing spots: Route 7, Route 8, Route 9, Route 13, Route 14, Route 15, Akala Outskirts, Brooklet Hill, Kala'e Bay, Melemele Sea, Paniola Town, Poni Breaker Coast, Poni Gauntlet, Poni Meadow, Poni Wilds, Seafolk Village, Seaward Cave, Secluded Shore, Vast Poni Canyon.

Another addition to the changes with fishing comes what are called Bubble Spots. These are also spots that can be also fished in - usually with a higher chance of finding a rarer Pokemon - but a player must slowly approach them or the Pokemon might run away, thus making the player reenter the route to try again. A layer can also find items when fishing, like they would in the real world instead of a fish. Players can find Big Pearls, Heart Scales, Pearls, Pearl Strings, and Sticky Barb when fishing on all islands, as well as Bottle Caps and Prism Scales when fishing on Poni Island and Ula'ula Island, respectively.
