.Aside from the usual stats and skills, Pals also have Traits called Work Suitabilities. These traits identify what type of work a Pal can do when you leave them in your base or whether you can assign them to a specific task. In this article, we will discuss how giving attention to these traits help you select the Pals for the job.
Each Pal's work suitability is visible as part of their individual profiles or information pop-ups. This gives you an overview about the various tasks the Pal can perform. There are 12 different tasks a Pal can take and most of them can do more than one task. As you can see in the example of two Pals below, one can only do one task while the other can do up to six different tasks.

As you also notice, the work icons also have numbers beside them. This tells you how efficient the Pal is in that particular task. In the screenshot provided above, Broncherry has LV3 efficiency for Planting while Robinquill only has LV1. This means the former can sow seeds much faster than the latter.
But why would you deploy a Pal that's only good at one thing? Isn't it better to deploy more Pals with more work suitability? Well most of the time, it is great to have Pals with multiple suitabilities. However, you should also consider that it can also lower their productivity. Since these multi-work Pals can do several jobs, they'll need to keep moving around, switching between tasks, eating, resting, sleeping, and anything in between. Most of the time, Pals don't commit to a task until it is completely finished (which is true for any task that can have production queues) so you'll find a lot of unfinished or in-progress tasks as Pals get distracted or move on to another task instead.
Deploying at least two Pals that are excellent on a single task will ensure you that you'll get the best results for that task alone. For example, if you deployed a Pal with LV3 mining alone compared to three Pals with LV1 mining suitability and several other work suitabilities, then you'll get higher production with the LV3 mining Pal.
There are also some considerations for Pals that can uniquely produce specific products. For example, Mozzarina is a cow-like Pal with only LV1 Farming suitability but can be a consistent source of Milk that you can use for cooking and feeding other Pals. Beegarde is a bee-like Pal that has multiple work suitabilities but you can assign it to a ranch to consistently produce Honey. (Both Milk and Honey are part of the recipe to make Cake, which is required for Breeding) Mau and Mau Cryst are cat-like Pals that can consistently make gold passively while assigned to a ranch.

As your base grows larger and you can deploy more Pals, these Traits become significant especially when selecting which workers to deploy and replace if they get Sick, injured, or incapacitated. You'll also need to eventually replace your workers with higher level Pals since they usually come with higher work levels.
There are Pals that can work throughout the night while the other Pals are sleeping. Normally, these are the Pals that you can see roaming in the wild at night. Thankfully, these guys don't sleep that much in the day either so you can consider them as really productive workers (unless they have negative Passives that prevent them from performing otherwise).
You can build special structures or facilities that can increase the efficiency and speed of all Pals in your base. The effects of these structures are only applicable to the location (base) where they're constructed and their effects don't stack so you only need to build one per base. These structures don't need Pal interaction as well; as long as you have them built, their benefits will be passively applied to your worker Pals.

| Technology Level | Structure | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 19 | Large Toolbox | +Handiwork Speed |
| 20 | Flame Cauldron | +Kindling efficiency |
| 23 | Water Fountain | +Watering efficiency |
| 24 | Flower Bed | +Gathering efficiency |
| 25 | Silo | +Planting Efficiency |
| 28 | Stump and Axe | +Lumbering Efficiency |
| 30 | Pickaxe and Helmet | +Mining Efficiency |
| 32 | Witch Cauldron | +Medicine production efficiency |
| 33 | Snowman | +Cooling efficiency |
| 48 | Electric Pylon | +Electricity generation efficiency |
In this section, we will discuss all work suitabilities, their description and the technology where they're needed.
Pals with this trait can be assigned to tasks that require fire and heating. Facilities that need kindling are involved with cooking food, producing ingots or charcoal, and generally providing heating in Cold environments or incubating eggs to hatch them faster.

Facilities that Require Kindling
Pals with this trait can be assigned to tasks to irrigate crops, operate mills, and crushers, and put out fires for wooden structures or furniture.

Facilities that Require Watering
Pals with this trait can sow seeds and plant crops in your plantation fields. These are done automatically and you don't need to worry about keeping the supply of seeds nearby.

Facilities that Require Planting
This is needed to power structures that require electricity such as lights and assembly lines. One generator can only generate so much so if you find your poor electric Pal unable to produce enough electricity in your generator, that means your electric facilities are consuming more electricity. Consider building another generator and assigning another electric Pal to power it up. So far, only the Power Generator is the only structure in the game that needs a Pal to generate electricity.
(I don't know if it's a design decision or just an oversight since appliances like electric heaters, kitchen, and furnace don't require electricity as of this writing; they still need to be constantly fired up with a Pal with Kindling work suitability)

Pals with this trait can assist in crafting various items, spheres, ammo, and weapons in workbenches and assembly lines. Only Pals with this trait can only be manually assigned to operate defensive structures like mounted weapons.

Additionally, all Pals with this trait will lend you a hand when you start building a structure or will build structures themselves once you laid out the plan or location where the structure or appliance will be built.

Facilities that Require Handiwork
This trait will allow Pals to simply harvest grown crops.

Facilities that Require Gathering
These Pals specialize in chopping trees and gathering Wood. If you don't have a Logging Site built, they'll destroy trees within the vicinity of the base. Otherwise, they'll just perform other tasks (if they have other work suitability) or just be idle and chill. As of the moment, only the Logging Site is the facility that requires this trait.

These Pals can mine for stone using the Stone Pit structure or destroy nodes that contain stone, palladium fragments and ore. Pals with LV2 Mining and above can destroy pure Ore nodes. If you don't have a Stone Pit built, they'll destroy any mining nodes within the vicinity of the base. As of the moment, only the Stone Pit is the facility that requires this trait.

Pals with this trait can help produce various medicines, as long as you have allocated the necessary materials and started a queue.

Facilities that Require Medicine Production
Pals with this trait can help cool down perishable food placed inside Cooler Boxes and Refrigerators. They can only help operate Coolers and Electric Coolers that can help lower the temperature in harsh, hot environments.

Facilities that Require Cooling
Pals with this trait can help transporting various resources and items from the environment (like wood from destroyed trees or stones from mining nodes), items produced by ranch animals, and wood and stone produced by Logging Sites and Stone Pits respectively. They can even pick up items that you deliberately drop as long as they're inside the base.
They'll bring these items to the nearest storage box so it's a good practice to place several storage containers around your base, especially those near your production structures. Pals cannot transport or touch items produced from workbenches or assembly lines.

Pals with this trait can be placed inside a Ranch to produce specific items passively.
