.Gold is the game's currency and will allow you to directly purchase weapons, goods, and other items from various merchants in the game. You won't have any immediate use for gold early on but as you progress and gain access to other settlements you'll want some funds to tap into. In this article, we will discuss the various methods of earning gold in Palworld.
So far, the only method of earning gold passively is by assigning pals called Mau (no. 24) and Mau Crysts (no. 24b) to your Ranch. These pals both have the skill "Gold Digger" which will allow them to generate gold coins when assigned to a ranch. Of course the rate they'll generate coins will depend on their working conditions so make sure they have the proper bed, good food (not just plain berries - must be cooked) and some warm bath. Any production-related Passives that will improve their productivity is a must-have as well.

After making sure your Maus are all settled, just have one or two pals with good Transport levels to take care of moving the gold bags to a nearby container. Otherwise, you'll have to collect these manually every once in a while. While you can capture them in the wild, it is great to know that Maus are relatively easy to breed using low-level pals. Here are Breeding combinations that you can try:
| Parent 1 | + | Parent 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Teafant | + | Lamball |
| Teafant | + | Cattiva |
| Lamball | + | Chikipi |
| Cattiva | + | Chikipi |
| Chikipi | + | Cremis |
You can also make a profit by capturing pals and selling them to Pal Merchants or Black Marketeers. However, this is not a reliable method in the long run since higher-level pals will be harder to capture (unless you're using a Capture Rate boosting mod) and usually, higher-level pals are worth more. The amount of time and resources wasted for crafting ammo and spheres just to capture a single pal only to be sold is not going to be a viable income option.

However, if you have a pretty self-sustaining base, you can keep producing pals that you can sell without going out your way and selling them manually. One of the pals with a relatively good selling price is Relaxaurus which can cost around 2000 gold each at mid-level. Usually, the higher the level the more gold a pal can be worth when sold.
And you should already know by now that you can capture humans in the game - this includes merchants and Black Marketeers! Capturing them will allow you to deploy them in any of your bases and interact/talk with them to access their wares. It's like having your own personal merchant in your bases right at your fingertips. Since they don't really contribute much to your base operations aside from allowing you to buy and sell items or pals, you can just let them chill in your palbox and just summon them when you're ready to make a transaction. Merchants are somewhat easier to deal with early on because they're low leveled compared to Black Marketeers.

Hunting down Alpha Pals is the best method of getting Ancient Technology parts and at the same time, they're a great source of valuable drops that you can sell to merchants in the form of gems, pal parts, stones, and more. You can hoard them and sell them all at once in one trip to save time and effort.

There are chests scattered around the game's massive land area and within dungeons as well. These chests contain a relatively good amount of gold based on their rarity; opening chests that require a gold key for example, will yield more coins compared to ordinary chests. Like other resources in the game, chests do respawn with randomized rarities as well so if you find a particularly convenient spot to loot them, you can mark that location and keep coming back for more.
One particular spot where four chests can be looted at a time is in coordinates -78, 190, directly west of the Icy Weasel Hill Statue (teleport point). You need a flying Mount to reach the top of the tower where the chests are located. Pals and enemy soldiers might spawn in this location so be careful especially when you're low-leveled.

This is one of the most popular methods of earning easy gold in the game - selling Nails. To craft nails, you just need a Primitive Workbench and a single Ingot. For every Ingot, you'll get two Nails. Ingots are obtained from Ores so if you have managed to set up a base on one of the ideal locations where several ore nodes respawn, you'll have a consistent supply of this mineral. Of course, ores are raw materials that need to be converted into Ingots as well so you'll need at least a Primitive Furnace, and a Pal that can fire it up consistently.

With such easy minimum requirements and good returns, it's no wonder why this method is popular with the playerbase. The ideal merchant where I personally sell my nails is through the Wandering Merchant located in Fisherman's Point (-484, -745) since he sells various ammo. It's recommended to just craft your rockets and buy the ammo for your other weapons. It's a high-level area but you can just use a flying Mount and stay near the coast to be safe from hostile pals. This settlement has a few merchants as well, including a Pal Merchant. Depending on how many nails you can carry per trip, it's possible to earn tens of thousands of gold with just a few transactions.

Finally, the probably an unpopular method of earning gold is just simply enabling Raids in your settings, and establishing a base in an area where it can get raided regularly. If your pals are strong enough and you have good defenses as well, your pals can easily push back and even wipe out invaders. I am not sure whether pal invaders drop gold but human enemies will drop a good amount of gold after you defeat them. Raids seem to trigger when the player is in the base so don't expect raids to happen while you're away and exploring or doing whatever your agenda is. After a successful raid defense, Pals with Transport skill can also clean up the mess (including gold) so you might want to check your containers.
