Case #3: Prove Waals' Innocence

Walkthrough

Since Tim and Pikachu were able to prove that Waals wasn't causing the fog to appear on Lake Cappucci, they now have to prove that he wasn't the one that brought a troublesome Crawdaunt to said lake. In order to prove his innocence, you will need to Find out how the box carrying the Crawdaunt was delivered to the lake. The best place to begin is by talking to the Timburr Transportation Chief, learning from him that the Timburr use a flag system in order to properly deliver the packages to the residents of the Island. When asked if they would've gone all the way to the lake in order to deliver a package, the Chief will advise that there isn't a special mark for a flag out there. Furthermore, the Chief will say you can view all their recent delivers by viewing the nearby bulletin board.

After viewing the bulletin board, you will need to go from House to house to check if the Timburr delivered the correct package to said recipient. By going to the first house, you will learn that they received the two packages they were expecting. This doesn't seem out of the ordinary, but you will also learn from this encounter that one Timburr was carrying a large box that same day. The next two houses will also confirm the packages they received, neither of which were the large box Timburr was carrying. Finally, you will need to chat with Waals to see if he ordered anything. He said he hadn't and thus hadn't received any packages, making it appear more than ever before that someone is trying to frame Waals.

With this in mind, you will need to talk with the Chief about the mysterious package. When you reach the now-repaired bridge, you will learn that Brad has already gone across it and is heading to the Lake. When you talk with the Chief about the situation, he will wonder if he made a mistake with the chart. He wishes he could communicate with Timburr to see if they know anything, hinting at you to go do so.

When you talk with the Timburr, you will learn that a package was delivered to the Lake, even though there wasn't one set to be originally. Apparently, this package had a donut mark sticker on it, the same that was really similar to the one found on the flag outside of John Waals' House. If you go talk to the Chief again after this, you will learn that Louise, the resort manager, had helped placed the stickers on all of the packages. The Chief will also mention how Louise smelled a Little strange when she had, but smelled like her normal self not too long after.

With all of this information in hand, you will then have to head to the Lake. When you reach Brad at the lake, he will insist that the evidence against Waals is overwhelming, especially how the symbol suddenly at the lake matches that of the one outside of John Waals' House. To prove Brad wrong, Tim and Pikachu will need to make a donut mark with a few pieces of wood that were discovered on the scene. After properly reconstructing the symbol and deducing that it was planted in order to frame Waals, the plan quickly becomes to follow a Timburr to see where the large mysterious package that was carrying Crawdaunt was delivered.

By doing this exact thing, you will be led to the Crawdaunt that was mentioned by the Masquerain earlier. One thing will lead to another that will see the Crawdaunt attacking Milo. Thankfully, however, Feebas will protect Milo, evolving into Milotic in the process. After defeating Crawdaunt, you will gain access to the area that holds a flag with the mysterious donut mark on it. After smelling a distinct odor on the flag and having Manetric confirm said smell, Pikachu will determine that Louise was the real culprit all along (as you may have already figured from the Chief's statements earlier).

Once Brad has taken away Louise, the same who committed the crime in hopes of being able to further build the resort on Cappucci Island, you will finally be able to ask Waals about the Substance known as R. He will tell you that R was meant to be a drug that would help heal Pokemon, as it was suppose to use the Cells from the Pokemon known as Mew that have the ability to do so. Unfortunately, however, the wrong cells, one from the Pokemon known as Mewtwo, were somehow used, the same that have a berserk gene found within them. This explains why some the Pokemon recently have become so violent.

Waals will explain how his Lab back at the PCL was where he discovered the effects of R, and how he had an assistant way back when that also knew about R. Waals will also mention how he told this to Harry two months ago, and how Harry was going to investigate Fine Park, an Abandoned Amusement park, after speaking with John. With this in mind, Tim and Pikachu look to head there next.
