Case #1: Find John Waals

Walkthrough

After learning what you did at the PCL about the Substance known as R and further outing Carlos as the one using Gengar to cause trouble, Tim and Pikachu will be found feeding the birds back in Tahnti Park. Not too long after, Amanda's Fletching will arrive with a Note calling Tim and Pikachu to return to the Baker Detective Agency. Once they arrive, Mr. Holiday will explain everything they learned from Carlos during his interrogation.

Apparently, Carlos wasn't the only one involved, actually taking orders from someone else in regards to reproducing the R Substance. Because Tim was snooping around, said individual wanted Carlos to attempt to get rid of him, most likely why he had Gengar cause so much trouble and why Trevenant went berserk. On top of this, you will learn from Carlos through Mr. Holiday that this same individual that was giving orders to Carlos is also responsible for the disappearance of Tim's father, Harry. Originally, Harry was said to have disappeared after a car crash due to a driving error; however, Carlos told that this unknown individual actually caused Harry to disappear after knowing too much. Unfortunately, Carlos doesn't know who this unknown person is, as he only had discussions with him through proxy or over the phone.

Once learning all of this, it appears the next step in learning more about R and possibly finding this unknown individual (and hopefully finding Harry) all lies in getting more information about the Substance from John Waals himself. After talking with Mr. Baker and Mr. Holiday, you will learn that Mr. Waals is now living on Cappucci Island. You will also learn that the ferry travels to Cappucci Island daily, but Mr. Baker actually thinks Amanda can get you there quicker on her boat. Before heading to Cappucci Island, while yet still waiting for Amanda to have her boat ready to go, Tim and Pikachu will learn of the Pokemon Carnival coming to Ryme City from Pablo at the Hi Hat Cafe.

Once you finally reach Cappucci Island, you will be tasked with finding the Home of John Waals. After talking around, you should meet Louise Milligan. She is the resort developer from Ryme City that is visiting Cappucci Island, and she will actually inform you of where you can actually Find John Waals' House. While on your way there, you should definitely continue to look around the island in hopes of gathering information from others. Before long, you will find an injured Ducklett that an aspiring Pokemon Ranger will heal upon his arrival. His name is Milo, and he will actually take you straight to Waal's house.

When you finally arrive to the Home of John Waals, you will actually Find Mr. Holiday's Lieutenant, Brad McMaster, trying to forcefully subdue Mr. Waals. Brad is usually quick to jump to conclusions, and this time no different. Apparently, there is a a strange fog at the Lake nearby, and it's causing a number of Pokemon to become injured. Of course, Brad believes with all his heart that John Waals is guilty of these crimes, and he'll insist that he is the culprit for such happenings. Because of this, it's up to Tim and Pikachu to find up what is going on with the fog situation, hoping they can find evidence to prove Mr. Waals is innocent. Unfortunately, the bridge to the lake has collapsed, forcing the duo to begin by finding an alternate route.
