Case #2: Chase The Mysterious Shadow

Walkthrough

The following day, Tim and Pikachu return to the PCL. After being congratulated by both the security guard and then Rita on the successful experiment from the previous day, you will be told that Carlos wanted you to go to the courtyard to help setup for the TV shoot. In the courtyard, you will Find Dorothy, Meiko and Emilia. After speaking with them, Meiko will begin filming. Shortly thereafter, a nearby Trevenant will have its eyes begin to turn red before it goes berserk (like Glalie did back in Litwick Cave). Quickly, everyone heads out of the courtyard and into the hallway until Trevenant calms down, and it isn't long after that Tim's cover gets blown. Wallace initially demands that Tim be kicked out of the PCL facility; however, Meiko and Emilia will quickly come to Tim's defense.

As this is happening, Pikachu asks Meiko if they can review the Footage from the Attack. After Meiko agrees, everyone gathers close to see what could've made Trevenant instantly go berserk. As they watch the video, it doesn't appear like anything is out of the ordinary. However, as they view the footage for a second time, they can clearly see something purple come out of the ground and reaching for Trevenant's leftovers on its plate. Upon seeing this mysterious Pokemon in the video, Emilia and Meiko ask if Tim and Pikachu would investigate. Ultimately, Dorothy will allow them to do so.

In order to track down this Pokemon, you will have to start by talking to Nina, as you may remember her mentioning creating reports about the possible ghosts of tthe PCL. She will give you the report she presently has, but she'll also let you know that she has lent out the rest to other workers. Because of this, you will have to start asking around to see if any other characters had received one of the four other reports. Wallace will mention he had one, but he gave it back to Nina since he didn't believe in ghosts. From there, Dorothy will mention that the report she was reading should still be in her office, thus giving you reason to leave the courtyard. You can interview the rest of the people and Pokemon in the courtyard, but they won't be of much help. Only Fennekin will have a noteworthy Testimony, stating it heard something say once before that it was here first.

Before heading to Dorothy's office, check with Carlos first to obtain the report he has. After that, head back to Building A and obtain the next report from Dorothy, who happens to be back in her office by this point. Once you have that next report, head to Fridge's Lab next. You should Find another report on Nina's desk, and you can even obtain a further one from Fridge himself. Once you have the final report, head to the lobby and chat with Rita. Before too long, you will learn from her that the PCL had its second building constructed recently, stating the original building was destroyed when a Pokemon suddenly went berserk. Thinking that same Case is linked to the one you are presently working on, you will need to talk with Dorothy to see if she knows more about said incident.

By talking with Dorothy once again in her office, she will suggest going to the library to see if there is a Book about the old PCL building and the incident that ended up destroying it. If you go to the PCL library, you will discover a book written by a man known as John Waals on that very incident on the second shelf from the left. While reading, you will also read that four Pokemon were found in the old PCL building way back when, including Aipom, Mudkip, Herdier and Gengar. Going off of what Fennekin mentioned earlier, it looks like one of these Pokemon could be the one you are looking for.

On the bookshelf on the far left, you should be able to look up the four Pokemon that were mentioned in the Book you just read. After reading about the four different Pokemon, it should be clear that Gengar is the Pokemon you are after. But just to make sure, use the ghost reports and your Case Notes to confirm that Gengar is the mysterious Pokemon from the Footage. From there, Pikachu and Tim will try to call out Gengar. Unfortunately, it won't appear until they turn the lights off. After they do, Gengar will appear and attempt to Attack Pikachu, sending you into the next Fast Action Event. After dodging Gengar's attacks, it will escape once again. The plan then becomes to Find a way to Capture Gengar in order to question it.

From there, you must quickly head to Dorothy in order to inform her that Gengar is the one causing all of the trouble. Because Gengar is a Ghost Type Pokemon, Dorothy knows it's going to be difficult to catch it. However, she believes they may have the tools for the job in the storage room in Building B. Within the storage room, you should be able to Find the Capture device on one of the tables. After getting it, head straight to the Meeting Room back in Building A, the last place you saw Gengar heading into. Once there, the next Fast Action Event will begin, this one revolving around catching Gengar within an electro web that shoots from the Capture Device.

After capturing it, it's time to question Gengar. Before long, you will learn from Gengar that it has been working with one of the researchers at the PCL. This person is the culprit that is directly involved with what has been going on with Gengar, and it could possibly be the person or one of the many people who is involved with Trevenant (and the other Pokemon) going berserk. The only problem is Gengar doesn't remember what said individual looks like. Apart from that, Gengar will tell of a hidden room it knows of that is found within library. In order to Find this hidden place within the library, Gengar tells that you must pull the books with a yellow, blue, green, and red spine (in that specific order) from the shelves.
