Added:

Deep Rock Galactic is an amazing dungeon crawler-shooter where you can play as one of the four dwarven types (class) while digging through procedurally-generated caverns and tunnels in mineral-rich locations in space. However, digging for resources and valuable items are just half the battle; you’ll also need to fight to protect yourself and your crew from the many dangerous creatures residing in different biomes. In this page, we will discuss the different enemy armor types and how to find enemy weakpoints so you can use these knowledge in combat.

Enemy Armor Types

While you’ll commonly encounter the squishy, unarmored bugs during your expeditions, you’ll soon encounter armored bugs that can pose a problem if you’re not familiar on how to deal with them. There are three armor types that you’ll encounter: Light, Heavy, and Unbreakable.

Light Armor

These bugs have thin carapaces that will protect them from a considerable amount of damage compared to a direct hit to their bare flesh. These carapaces can be broken revealing the squishy, vulnerable flesh parts underneath. Using armor-breaking ammo on light armor will shatter it immediately, with the shell-breaking shell dealing full damage.

Heavy Armor

Bugs with heavy armor have obvious visual markers on them like distinctive thick, chitin plates, and bone cover. Heavy armor blocks most types of damage. This armor can still be broken with sustained/concentrated fire. To effectively shatter heavy armor, you’ll need to use armor-breaking rounds or explosives.

Unbreakable Armor

Bugs with unbreakable armor is a force to be reckoned with. Not even sustained fire will break this abnormally thick carapace. Thankfully, even with unbreakable armor, bugs utilizing this armor will usually have a vulnerable weak spot that you can shoot at. Area damage from explosions is another way of dealing with this threat.

=== Weak Points==Every enemy in the game has some sort of weak point. Hitting a weak point will deal 2x or even 3x as much damage as a normal shot. Precision weapons are best suited for this task and they can even be modified to deal even more extra damage to weak points.

Most creatures are vulnerable to shots to the head. However, for armored enemies or certain bugs, look for the telltale sign of glowing parts of their bodies where the tissue or armor cover is thin enough for you to see the glowing liquid inside.

Aside from dealing more damage, there are also certain enemies that can perform special attacks, thanks to certain organs attached to them. While destroying these organs won’t kill some bugs outright, it can disable their special attacks altogether until they’re neutralized.

Finally, take note that AoE weapons based on cold or fire won’t do extra or special damage to weakpoints.

That concludes our quick guide about different Armor Types and how to exploit weakpoints of enemies in Deep Rock Galactic. The game is ideally enjoyed when played online via multiplayer, especially with friends. This will make your progression in the game much bearable and faster.
