Question for The Sims 3

Both my friend and I play sims3 on the same computer and we like our sims to interact with each other but when we change the active household the other persons sims continue to age and progress. While my friend was playing with her family the other day my women gave birth and now I have a baby who I was unable to name. Is there any way to stop this so that it is like it was in the sims2 when a household is not active the sims stop aging?
