Guest answered:

YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CAR PARKING SPACE IF YOU don't NOW HOW TO GET ONE YOU GO TO THE SECTION WHERE YOU BUY THE CARS AND THE BLACK FLAT SQUARE, YOU BUY THAT. THEN BUY YOUR CAR AND PUT IT ON THE BLACK SQUARE THING.

but a parking space... then buy a car and put it on top of the parking space.
Guest answered:

When you buy the car and it wont work, it's either because there is no space or if you didnt purchase the lot for it. Before you bu the car you need to buy the lot/ parking space then you buy the car hope this helped. Good luck Smile

If you have the biggest house you can get on the sims and you've bought it WITH furniture, it probably won't let you buy them because it's too full. You might have to sell some un-neccesary items. But if you've decorated it yourself, you probably wouldn't have put as much items in as it would if you bought furniture in it so it should let you place it. Sell some items hopefully it should work.

You have to buy a parking space to put the car on first Smile

Also to note:

You must be on the main floor when you place the parking spot or anything in the yard. I just figured that out now Smile

This is not so much a cheat, but it works. Want a car but no space on your lot to place a parking strip? Here's how I got around that....build a basement under your house, and place a parking strip inside. You don't need a driveway, don't need stairs going from the home down to the basement, don't even need to put lights or decorations in as your sim will never go there. Just use the basement tool in build mode and make a space large enough to fit the parking strip and you are good to go :-) When your sim goes for a drive, they never actually walk up to the car anyway, just out to the street and the car magically appears, and when you come home it will go back to the parking strip in the basement.

I've also found if I make the basement area large it's a good place to keep items, somewhat like a vault...collected gems, iron, rare seeds, etc. I can't stand having my inventory crammed full of stuff so this is a useful storage area to keep goods so they aren't filling up my sims livable space.
