You've killed a Lagiacrus and now you're going to catch one. You know the drill: attack the Lagiacrus until it's limping, lay down a trap, lure the Lagiacrus onto said trap (or catch it while it's sleeping) and hit it with a couple of Tranq Bombs to make the catch.

The Supply Box for this quest holds an EZ Shock Trap, but it's always a good idea to bring an extra trap with you on a capture quest to avoid blowing the whole thing by setting your one and only trap at the wrong time. You can make a basic Pitfall Trap by combining a Spider Web with Ivy to make a Net and then combining the Net with a Trap Tool (buyable at the market) to make the trap. You can also make a Shock Trap by combining a Thunderbug with a Trap Tool.

You're tasked with capturing a Lagiacrus this time.

Once in the quest, remove the Map, First-aid Meds, Rations, EZ Shock Trap and Tranq Bombs from the Supply Box. There's a shortcut in the Flooded Forest base camp you can use to instantly jump to Area 6. Lagiacrus just so happens to spawn in Area 6 for this quest, so you'll want to make use of this shortcut here. To jump straight to Area 6, head to the north end of camp, dive into the water there and continue swimming north until you reach the exit.

If Lagiacrus isn't in Area 6 when you get there, check for it in nearby Area 5. Lagiacrus will most likely move between areas 5 and 6 for the better part of this quest, moving to Area 8 once you've weakened it significantly.

Lagiacrus will limp (or “limp swim”) when it's ripe for capture. Remember that you're goal here is not to kill the Lagiacrus but to capture it, so cease attacking as soon as you spot it limping.

An easy way to catch Lagiacrus is to trap it while it's sleeping. When weakened, Lagiacrus will move to Area 8 to rest and regain some health. Wait outside of Area 8 before following Lagiacrus to give it time to fall asleep. Don't wait too long – just 60 seconds or so. You can determine if Lagiacrus is asleep if Cha-Cha is wearing his Fluffy Mask. To do so, give Cha-Cha the signal (by pressing the Select button to bring up the Hunter menu and then pressing the Start button) to mark the Lagiacrus on your map in the top-right corner of the screen. If the monster symbol in Area 8 is teal, this means Lagiacrus is sleeping.

An easy way to catch Lagiacrus is to trap it while it's sleeping.

Enter Area 8 once you've determined Lagiacrus is sleeping and approach its location on land. Sprint over to the sleeping Lagiacrus, set the EZ Shock Trap right next to it, and then hit Lagiacrus with two Tranq Bombs to make the catch.
