Hunter Killer

Hunting Quest: Hunt a Barroth and a Great Jaggi

Reward: 3800z
Contract: 350z

Time: 50 min.
Area: Sandy Plains
Unstable Environment

This is your first dual monster hunt quest. The target monsters here are a Great Jaggi and a Barroth. This quest is a lot like the three-star Barroth quest: just minus the subquests, add in an unstable environment and a three-to-five minute detour at the start to kill the Great Jaggi. Because you have faced and defeated both of these monsters before and have access to better equipment at this stage of the game, slaying these two beasts in one quest shouldn't be a problem.

If you used a Lance to defeat Barroth in his three-star quest, you now have access to a couple of stronger lances. The Spiral Lance is one of them. This weapon boasts water damage, which Barroth is weak against when covered in mud. Another is the Rampart, which requires quite a bit of mining to craft. These weapons are close in damage and sharpness, but water damage makes the Spiral Lance the better choice.

Make sure you have the usual in your inventory before setting out: Mega Potions, Whetstones, Raw Meat and a Pitfall or Shock Trap. Equipping Cha-Cha with the Fluffy Mask if you haven't already done so would really help as well. To give Cha-Cha the signal and momentarily mark the boss monsters' locations on your map, press the Select button and then the Start button on the while on the Hunter menu.

Hunt the Great Jaggi first.

Remove the First-aid Meds, Rations, Cleanser and Hot Drinks or Cool Drinks from the Supply Box once in the quest. The Great Jaggi is in Area 4 to start and Barroth is in Area 3. Target the Great Jaggi first. You should be able to kill him in three to five minutes. Barroth may enter Area 3 while you're fighting, but by then the Great Jaggi should be limping to Area 5 to recover. Follow the Great Jaggi and finish him off in Area 5 if he manages to limp away.

If you had a difficult time with Barroth in his three-star quest, you should have an easier time here, since you are more seasoned and have undoubtedly upgraded your equipment since then. Refer to the “Leading the Charge” walkthrough in the offline Three-star Quests section of this guide for a Barroth strategy.

As this quest takes place in an unstable environment, it is likely you will encounter another monster while facing the Barroth, most likely Qurupeco. Facing two boss monsters in one zone is no walk in the park. Retreat if possible and wait for Barroth to follow, or stick it out and hope the other monster soon leaves.

I did that but it was just a normal barroth fight because i had the great jaggi dead withen 3 minutes using the royal claw which a barroth is weak against.
