As long as you don't defeat it you should keep running into it till you catch it.

The Latias Pokemon will still be roming around, but you kill him you will never see him again. So you have lots and lots of chances to catch him if he is still alive. I hope this helps.

Only if you kill him. If you need some help on where to find him, I'm a pro at running into them! Latios's "birth" place is mount pyre, so hang around there, have a Pokemon about level 40, and use a repel. Once you have run into him once, save immediately afterwards, (unless you killed him.) then look him up in your pokedex and see where he is at. Run around between route122 and mount pyre until he is in the same route as u. And thats that. What Pokemon to use is up to you, but I would have a wobbuffet or something that will paralyze him, or a Pokemon with the arena trap ability, such as a trapinch. And now a little "advertisement" ...
