To get bulbasaur and squirtle in the game, both the trainers say to you 'these Pokemon need srong trainers' so what to you have to do to get both of them?

You just need to beat the Gym Leaders of that city to get them.

TmT, hiinthesky16000, and Kenny 2x4 are all wrong. While it is true that Squirtle can only be obtained by defeating Lt. Surge in Vermillion City, the method of obtaining Bulbasaur is quite different. Your Pikachu has to like you alot. She will give you Bulbasaur and it can be used to annihilate Misty. Though serious training is reccomended if you don't wan't to have Bulbasaur's ass handed to him on a golden platter. (note: I know it's "silver platter," but I needed to eccentuate the severity of the need to train Bulbasaur if it were to be the Pokemon you face Misty with)

For bulbasaur you have to get the rainbow badge (Celadon City) and the thunder badge for squirtle (Vermilion city) talk to officer jenny
