1) Absolutely no idea about where he's gone now. Talk to his daughter and see what she says.
2) You can't do cheats on Yellow (Special Pikachu) Edition anyways.

Decrepitangel answered:

The cheat is impossible to do. There are no cheats available for yellow outside of a GB gameshark.

The developers who accidentally left the old man glitch in red/blue got rid of in in yellow (to explain the glitch, when the old man battles the pokemon and captures it, your name changes to "old man" and the game stores the bits that is your name in a random area. Ordinarily, the bits are overwritten, but if in red/blue you fly to cinnibar right after, and surf on the right coast, things happen. To explain, those random bits, your name, determine what pops up on that coast, as the developers didn't specify what appears there, and pokemon lv. 100 can appear. I'm serious. To duplicate things, place the item you wish to copy i think 128x in our 6th slot. -ex.rare candy- and you must find an "'M" or a "Missingno" I warn you, although for me my game wasn't corrupted or damaged, ect., simply seeing one writes to your hall of fame, making it glitchy-although this in no way affects game play, and viewing the hall does nothing negative to you- And,anyway, who looks at their hall of fame anyway? I'd like to keep my lv 180 snorlax.. Heh Heh

P.S- When they gain exp 1 time, they revert back to lv.100- when you give 'M a rare candy, it becomes a glitch-free Kangaskan, except for the fact you can teach 'M fly,- hence a flying Kangaskhan...
Also these pokemon- glitch and over lv.100 can battle others, but no trading to Gen.2-Gold,Silver,Crystal. However the Kangaskhan IS tradeable. When over lv 100 pokemon battle in link cables, they don't gain exp, hence they retain their lv. And yes, they are powerful. try to use master balls, as they often dodge the regular (after you dupe them, of course.)
