How do you get into the gym in Saffron City?

<BR>Because there are all those security guys and is that how you get Surf? please help I'm stuck!!!

To get past the guards go to Celedon and and get a drink from the roof off the department store. Then take it to the guard and give it to him. He will let you through.

How you get surf is in the Safari Zone. You go to the last zone and there is a house in the corner and there is a guy in there that will give you the HM Surf.

1. You have to fetch a drink from the vending machines on top of the Celadon Department Store and give it to any one of the four guards stationed at the checkpoints. They will then let you through. However, you'll find that until you've defeated Koga the Rockets will block access to the Gyms and the Silph Building — but once you defeat Koga, the Silph Building will be accessible. Go through the building and get the Card Key to open the partitions and pick off the Rockets and scientists. Eventually you will face your rival on one part of a floor and meet someone who will give you a Lapras. The warp tile after that will take you right up to the 11F, where Giovanni is holding the President hostage. Defeat Giovanni and acquire the Master Ball from the President to remove the Rockets and open the Gyms. The one to the left is the home of the Fighting Dojo, who will cede either Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan if you defeat him, and the one to the right is controlled by Sabrina.

2. HM03 (Surf) is in the Secret Hose in the Safari Zone. You have to wend your way to the northwest and be conservative of the 500 steps alloted you. If you make it before you run all your steps, the Secret House inhabitant will give you HM03.
