Much like other Battle Facilities, including The Battle Tree, the Battle Royal is a place where players can come to battle other NPC in order to earn Battle Points to spend on various prizes. However, the Battle Royal works quite differently than other Battle Facilities.
A player will choose three Pokemon to use, but will choose only one Pokemon to battle against three other trainers under the same set of parameters. After just one trainer has lost all three of their Pokemon, the match ends, with the person having the most tallied points deemed the winner. You will gain points based on how many Pokemon you knocked out and how many of your Pokemon still remain, receiving Battle Points if you win or lose, more if you win and cause the most damage.
In Single Player Mode, you can challenge four different ranks in Battle Royal: Normal Rank, Super Rank, Hyper Rank, Master Rank. The rules remain the same as The Battle Tree and other Battle Facilities, with certain Pokemon being banned from participation, same Pokemon and Items not being permitted, and the opponent's Pokemon being at random. Should you defeat the Master Rank, your Pokemon will also be given a Ribbon for their achievement. Players can also play online with friends in a Battle Royal match up via Festival Plaza.
