Unlike previous games apart of the Metroid Series, where a player would only be able to save their progress at Save Stations, this game also has Checkpoints. Whenever you use an Elevator or Teleport to another area, you will be brought back to this point if you happen to die before reaching another Save Station. This also applies to Bosses, who always have a Checkpoint directly before facing them. So if you ever happen to die while facing a Boss Character, you will always return to the Checkpoint directly before facing them, essentially giving you an unlimited amount of attempts to defeat them.
