Translating the Big List of Cars in FM6...

Making sense of the various labels and stats for cars in FM6 can take a little getting used to - in fact it is fair to say that there is something of a learning curve from the get go!

In the interest of helping you make the most sense of this as quickly as possible, first we explain what each column header represents:

1. Year

Generally speaking this number represents the "Model Year" for a car. IT should be emphasized that model year and the actual calendar year for a production car rarely ever coincide.

For example, a 2016 model year automobile is available during most of the 2016 calendar year, but is usually also available from the third quarter of 2015 as well, because production of the 2016 model began in July and August 2015. The reason behind this overlap has more to do with the time required to retool the assembly line for mass production than any other traditional or practical reason.

2. Model

Generally the decision for naming a new model car follows one of three basic schemes:

(1) Series Model Name - the new car is part of an already established model line - for example the Lincoln Town Car - so it already has a following and certain expectations about it.

(2) Model Name Appeal - when creating and naming a new car design the model name tends to follow a formula - either it consists of high-tech appearing incomprehensible gibberish (example: Acura RSX Type-S) or a name that is "cool" or "sexy" (examples include Javelin, Vanquish, Challenger, etc).

It uses either letters, numbers, or a combination of letters and numbers that market studies indicate have some mystical sway over consumers (examples include M4, M235i, EXR S, XTS, etc).

(3) Power Symbols - Certain key letters are thought to be very powerful when applied to a car model - examples being X, T, G, GT, XTS. In addition to those strategies, any name that a competitor has spent oodles of money promoting so that it is an established model name or model marker is also fair game - examples include SuperSport / Super Sport / SS, Continental, SRT, etc.

3. Cost

Thanks to very generous race purses, the Forza Rewards Program, bonus wheel spins, and massive earnings from the use of Mod Cards and Showcase Events, obtaining the Credits required to purchase the cars you want is simply a given in FM6!

In fact the only players who will find that side of the game challenging are the ones unable to experxise basic patients - you know, the gimme--buyme-takeme-showme sort?

For the record only a relatively tiny handful of cars will present any real challenge in terms of having the funding, and those are:

  • 2015 Lotus E23 - $2M

  • 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO - $2M

  • 1955 Mercedes-Banz 300 SLR - $1.9M

  • 1958 Ason Martin DBR1 - $1.9M

  • 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rosa - $1.9M

  • 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 - $1.8M

  • 2015 Jaguar XKR-S GT - $1.8M

  • 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe - $1.8M

And about a dozen or so $1m to $1.7M cars as well... So yeah, there will need to be some scrounging!

4. Class/PI & Drive

The Class/PI & Drive reveals exactly what it sounds like it will reveal - the base class and Performance Index for the car in its stock configuration, along with its stock engine and drive configuration.

Let's use the 1968 Abarth 595 as our working example - as a brief examination of the cover screen for the car allows the veteran racer to easily interpret it. In the Manufacturers Showroom we find that our esseesse is just the sort of rat trap ride that offers extended fun levels and an opportunity to really let it all hang out!

A brief glance at the cover screen reveals an atypical European sub-compact with the sort of rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive design that stands out from the more typical engineering designers, who tend to favor front-engine, rear-wheel-drive or front-engine, front-wheel drive designs.

Thanks to its very honest E108 PI we know before we even get inside that the 595 is your basic rattletrap delivering pretty substandard performance for its class. Stock it offers a lower-bottom end for a cranky 0-60 mph whose waspish snap will not disappoint - or at least not quickly :)

Based on that PI we can anticipate a performance envelope of 0-60 mph in around 30 seconds, with a low top-end that caps out below 80 mph and braking power so crippled that at maximum thrust assuming you actually can hit 80 mph you will require well over 120 ft to stop.

The crotch-rocket effect and its stock shake, rattle, driving experience will certainly leave your passengers feeling as if they have just had a near-death experience - so how could you possibly ask for more fun? We'll tell you ow - you ask in the form of strategically applied Crew and Boost Cards that offer across-the-board boosts for Power and Brakes!

Those roll effects actually make it feel a lot faster than it obviously is - and if you go the extra mile and tweak the Tuning effects to stiffen the suspension and add some grip to the tires you can actually drift this puppy! Do it proper - and be sure to bring a container of high-quality Baby Wipes so your passenger's feel - and smell - baby bottom clean when they change into a fresh pair of panties!

Because yeah, THAT is what a proper interpretation of the PI is meant to deliver!

5. Speed

This is a relative index number that, once you have experience with cars in this class and in its PI range allows you to interpret it to direct speed capability.

6. Handling

This is a relative index number that, once you have experience with cars in this class and in its PI range allows you to interpret it to direct handling capability.

7. Acceleration

This is a relative index number that, once you have experience with cars in this class and in its PI range allows you to interpret it to direct acceleration capability.

8. Braking

This is a relative index number that, once you have experience with cars in this class and in its PI range allows you to interpret it to direct braking capability.

9. No.

This number is applied arbitrarily with no official attachment to the model it is assigned to other than that model being the x number under the declared maker. This can be a useful both for on-the-fly model assessment and to indicate when a model has been added to the game and manufacturer's line as is accomplished via DLC, as a letter code is added in such a case.

That nicely wraps up the listing key and the field explanations. Each of the car listings is organized below by maker, then year and model, with the most recent manufactured year in descending order.

One track at every venue, all over the world... But just 1-Lap Races will do!
