Pt. 3.5: Showcases

Important Note: For the purposes of our WTG the Showcase Event appears directly after Part 3: Volume 1 Super Street - the idea being that AFTER you complete THAT part of the WTG play, you then sink your teeth fully into the Showcase Events for several reasons.

First, there are more than a few Achievements to be unlocked that will boost your G if you lack cred in that respect. Plus getting these done will give you some valuable driving experience with a wide selection of tracks and car types.

So yeah, enjoy! Just be sure that you do ALL of the unlocked Showcases - and then the ones you unlock while you do them. When you are done the only Showcase Events that should remain are the locked ones - and those are:

So when all is said and done and the above are all that remains you will have completed 76% of the Showcase Events completed. At that point it is time to resume the main race campaign...

The Showcase Menus

When you access the Career Menu from Main Menu > Go Race > Career you are presented with the following three options:

1. Continue Career (whatever Volume / Series is next for you)

2. Stories of Motorsport (The five Volumes of the Story Campaign)

3. Showcases (The entire Showcase Menu Spread - both unlocked and locked)

From the Career Menu the two branching choices - Stories and Showcases - both feature a percentage completed meter in the top-right-corner of their box to let you know where you stand in terms of completion of each. Inside of each is the individual series boxes, and each of those has its own completion percentage display.

The Showcases Menu System presents the following sub-menu scheme - which we address here as Columns that are sorted from Top to Bottom - the first being the top-left which is Bondurant Autocross, next being the bottom-left or Endurance Racing, then the next top selection, Factory-Spec, and so on.

The complete Showcase Sub-Menu Scheme consists of:

1. Bondurant Autocross (5 Showcase Events)

2. Endurance Racing (9 Showcase Events)

3. Factory-Spec Racing (8 Showcase Events)

4. High-Speed Chase (5 Showcase Events)

5. Moments-in-Motorsports (9 Showcase Events)

6. Passing Challenge (10 Showcase Events)

8. Race Driver Experience (13 Showcase Events)

9. Track Day Shootout (7 Showcase Events)

10. Top Gear Showcase (11 Showcase Events)

Of the 87 unique Showcases in the list you should, at the time that you are reading this, have completed just ONE of the events: Main Menu > Go Race > Career > Showcases > Race Driver Experience > Indycar.

Racing the Cover Car - The 2017 Ford GT

As part of the game design and the standard tute package, you will have completed the Indycar Indianapolis Invitational already. To refresh your memory that is the Showcase Event that took place at the famed Brickyard Circuit at Indy, in which you raced a 7-Lap open-wheel pack of 24 opponents

The requirements for this first Showcase Event experience are very straight forward - and count towards the two goal-oriented game play Achievements: Meeting Objectives (10g) Complete 30 Race Objectives, and Accomplished (15g) Complete 60 Race Objectives.

For this tute-included event the goal was to Finish in the Top 3 for the payout of a 14,000 Cr. Purse. This was our first experience with really fast race cars in FM6 and the Indycars tend to be very responsive and impressive (but then they were engineered for this).

After the first Lap we thought there might be a chance that we would unlock the Record Breaker Achievement which is unlocked by going faster than 250mph in a car. Sadly the best we could do was 230mph and we realized that though these were very fast cars, they class and setup they were using was not sufficient to reach that sort of speed levels.

Showcase Achievements

In addition to the outcome of each Showcase Event applying to the stats based Achievements in the game, there is also a small subset of Showcase-specific Achievements to be unlocked.

1. Showstopper (40g) Complete All Showcase Events.

2. I Got This (20g) Finish First in the Formula Ford Spec Showcase Event.

3. Dodging and Weaving (20g) Finish First in the Ferrari LaFerrari Passing Challenge Showcase Event.

4. Showdown (20g) Finish First in the Ariel Atom Stig 1-1 Showcase Event.

5. One for the History Books (50g) Complete all Car Divisions, all Series, and all Showcases.

That means that the five Showcase-related Achievements that are part of the Achievements Scheme represent a total of 150g. The Showcase-exclusive Achievements (100g) represents a full 10% of the overall FM6 available gamerscore, and with the fifth contributed Achievement included, the percentage jumps to a rather impressive 15% overall. Which means that Showcase Events are a very significant element of game play in FM6!

Showcase Event Strategies

One of the strategies that you may find incredibly useful to you is to approach the Showcase Events as a two-stage challenge, with your first priority being to complete all of the events that basically unlock OTHER events and races. Then second, to wrap up the remaining events.

If you are going to follow that approach, you may find the following schedule helpful:

1. Bondurant Autocross - Golf R Showcase Event (Unlocks: Brands Hatch Rain International Global Touring Cars Race Driver Experience).

2. Ford GT Sprint - Watkins Glen Full Circuit (Unlocks: Track Day Shootout Exotic GT Shootout Showcase Event).

3. Chevrolet Corvette Sprint - Sonoma Raceway Grand Prix Circuit (Unlocks: Endurance Racing Daytona 300 Showcase Event).

4. The Birth of Grand Prix Racing - Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Full Circuit (Unlocks: Race Driver Experience Modern Grand Prix Yas Marina Night Invitational Showcase Event).

   Classic Road-Racing Sports Cars - Silverstone Racing Circuit Grand Prix Circuit (Unlocks: Race Driver Experience Modern GT Sebring Late Night Invitational Showcase Event).

5. America's Muscle Car Battle - Road America Full Circuit (Unlocks: Track Day Shootout Modern American Muscle Shootout Showcase Event).

6. Ferrari LaFerrari Challenge -- Autodromo nazionale Monza Full Circuit (Unlocks: High-Speed Chase Ferrari v12 Sprint Showcase Event).

7. Alfa Romeo 4C You Versus the Stig --Bernese Alps Club Circuit (Unlocks: Top Gear Stig 1-1 Ferrari FF You Versus the Stig).

8. Lamborghini Huracan You Versus the Stig -- Nurburgring GP Circuit (Unlocks: High-Speed Chase Lamborghini v12 Sprint Showcase Event).

9. Ariel Atom You Versus the Stig -- Hackenheimring Short Circuit (Unlocks: Factory-Spec Racing Catalunya Ariel Atom Cup Showcase Event).

10. Trucks Underdog Challenge -- Top Gear Full Circuit (Unlocks: Top Gear Showcase Ford Passing Challenge (in the Ford Bronco '75) Showcase Event).

11. Track Day Masters -- Top Gear Full Circuit (Unlocks: Bondurant Autocross BAC Mono Event).

12. Sport Icon Shootout -- Hockenheimring Full Circuit (Unlocks: Top Gear Showcase Mercedes-Benz E63 Bowling Showcase Event).

FM6 Showcase Events Core

The following are the Showcase Events for FM6. When we first began to document this section of the WTG many of the events were locked - as you must progress through the game to unlock them. In such cases they are marked in the list below as Locked. However once we unlock them we will back-fill the their information and then make a note that they were originally locked.

Events that are flagged with the (L) Flag indicate an event that was initially Locked. Enjoy!

1. Bondurant Autocross

The Bondurant Autocross events are essentially a precision racing event in which the environment is all about you and your capability as a driver. When a racer is described as being "one with his machine" they would naturally do very well at this sort of event. What about you?

Remember that each of the barrels hit - even if you just graze it - will add 5s to your time overall. Missing a gate will cost you a penalty equal to ALL of the barrels at that gate!

Using rewind may remove penalties from hits bit we are not clear on whether it actually rewinds the clock - it does not appear to... How you do on these seems to be directly related to your comfort level with cornering and that being so, we recommend you use the chase view rather than in-car view even if in-car is your regular view. Just saying.

Target times are given for each race.

• Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - Circuit of The Americas West Route (1 Lap).

  Goals: Weave your way through cones with precision to set the fastest time in the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (Bondurant Autocross Event).

  Time Required: 3:45:00 / Purse: 3,600 Cr. (x2 Base with VIP Bonus + Assists Bonus)

• Golf R - Hockenheimring National Circuit (1 Lap).

  Goals: Weave your way through cones with precision to set the fastest time in the 2014 Volkswagen Golf R (Bondurant Autocross Event).

  Time Required: 3:30:00 / Purse 3,300 Cr. (x2 Base with VIP Bonus + Assists Bonus)

  Unlocks: Brands Hatch Rain International Global Touring Cars Race Driver Experience.

• Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S - Rio de Janeiro National Circuit (1 Lap).

  Goals: Weave your way through cones with precision to set the fastest time in the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S (Bondurant Autocross Event).

  Time Required: 4:05:00 / Purse 3,500 Cr. (x2 Base with VIP Bonus + Assists Bonus)

• (L) BAC Mono - Yas Marina Circuit Corkscrew (1 Lap)

  Goals: Weave your way through cones with precision to set the fastest time in the 2014 BAC Mono.

  Locked: Complete the Track Day Masters event in TopGear Showcase in the BAC Mono to unlock this event (Bondurant Autocross Event).

  Time Required: 4:30:00 / Purse 4,500 Cr. (x2 Base with VIP Bonus + Assists Bonus)

• (L) Mazda MX-5

  Goals: Weave your way through cones with precision to set the fastest time in the 2016 Mazda MX-5.

  Locked: Complete race 3 of the Nightfall Series in the Sport Icons Volume to unlock this event (Bondurant Autocross Event).

  Time Required: 2:35:00 / Purse 2,100 Cr. (x2 Base with VIP Bonus + Assists Bonus)

  This one was pure fun and some of the tightest turns and transitions so far! Wrapping up this final Showcase Event in the Bondurant Event so yeah... Cool.

2. Endurance Racing

This type of Showcase Event is starkly different from the others, and not just because it requires you to invest significantly more time - and effort - in its completion (and it does!). The biggest and perhaps most important difference is found not in time and effort, but rather in the question of the spirit of racing you feel in your heart. No, maybe it goes deeper than that. In your gut?

What we are talking about here is a simple question: how committed are you to FM6?

Is this a Racing Simulation for you, or is it a Racing Game? The answer to that question is not as simple as we make it sound mates. Because in the case of the latter it makes this Showcase a mixture of fun and annoyance thanks to 82 very long laps of racing fun. In the case of the former it transcends this simple showcase into what may very well be the most difficult and even excciating game play you will experience in Forza Motorsport 6!

If you opt to view FM6 as a game - arcade or simple racing game - then you will likely have the Assists set so that they do not include either simulated damage, or simulated wear. That means that your petrol tank never grows lighter, and thus your gas gauge is a superfluous line on an otherwise busy screen.

If on the other hand you are a serious racer seeking as realistic a simulation of racing as you can manage, then you are going to need to sit down and plan a pitting Strategy for this race and the other Endurance type races in this Showcase Section!

Conversely in the case of game play, you will not have to worry about damaged components because you will have damage disabled. If you are the embodiment of Ricky Racer though, then you will have to keep a very tight reign on your car and remain in control - and under pressure - at all times. Because damage to your steering or the gear box or any one of dozens of other systems on the car will mean absolute failure!

With that in mind, you should take the time to decide which sort of racer you are, and then make an informed decision about that, for this Showcase type, because a lot rides on your answers!

Either way - whatever you decide - you should be aware that Endurance Racing is what they call an acquired taste in the rarefied auto racing circles in which it is in vogue. It largely consists of teams that consist of multiple drivers, mechanics, and other support crew who work in shifts.

Obviously that is not a practical approach for FM6, which means that the support duties are mostly invisible and simulated, while the driving duty? Yeah, that's all YOU.

Just remember, this is a game - it is supposed to be about having fun. That noted, Endurance Racing has to be about as anti-fun as it gets in the auto racing sphere, particularly for the serious members of the Ricky Racer fraternity out there. Unless you enjoy being constantly under pressure or being made to pay in spades for even the smallest of mistakes?

So hey, have fun! Right mates?

• Spring 300 - Sebring International Raceway Full Circuit (82 Laps).

  Goals: Compete in a 300-mile endurance race at Sebring International Raceway (Multiclass Event).

  The cars available for this event are:

  - 2014 Audi #2 Audi Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro

  - 2009 Peugeot Sport Total 908

  - 2011 Audi #2 Audi Sport Team Joest R15++ TDI

  Target: Finish First / Purse: 390,000 Cr.

  Regardless of the car you choose for this, or your various configuration settings for Assists and the like, there is one particular aspect that you need to keep in mind - to successfully complete this Showcase Event you MUST finish this very long Endurance Race in First Place. Note that that does not mean be in the Top Three, it means WIN the race in the Numero Uno slot!

  That is important to remember because in spite of the long nature of this run, it is certainly and entirely possible that you could be in first place through 99% of the race only to fall into second or third place at the last moment through inattention and the false sense of security that you get from so lengthy a race. That is not speculation mind you, but is based on our own experience!

  We ended up in the awkward position of pitting to refuel and change tyres during Lap 81 through incorrectly calculating our remaining range! Basically what happened was we thought we had sufficient fuel to make that final lap but we were wrong, and midway through it, we ran out of petrol. Which meant we had to rewind to the point just before the pit entrance, and slide into the Pit.

  Unfortunately while our amazing Pit Crew was refueling us and swapping fresh rubber we lost the number one slot. And there was barely enough time and track to win it back! That was a hard-learnt lesson mates - in an ideal world what we SHOULD have done, and would have done, was to pit around Lap 78 or so, which would have granted us plenty of leeway to regain the number one slot.

  As it was, we ended up using rewind more in the final lap of the race than we did through the ENTIRE race prior to Lap 82(?!) Basically we had to run the last lap perfectly, and even then we only overtook and won by something like two car-lengths! Yeesh!

  So when you set up for this race, do yourself a fav mates, come up with a good and conservative Pit Plan and then USE it!

  
  1992 Honda NSX-R

  By the way, as this is a wet run we opted to select a Crew Mod Card that improved our Grip, and we opted to apply two Boost (green) Mod Cards that added +60% to Character XP and Manufacturer Affinity respectively. You certainly do not need to do that, but FYI at the end of this Showcase Event we obtained the following results:

  Total Cr. Rewards = 702,000 Cr.

  Total Character XP = 416,000 XP (10 Spins!)

  Total Manufacturer Affinity = 416,000 XP (25 Manufacturer Affinity Levels!)

  Super Rare Mod Unlocked: Audi Crew Chief +12% Grip / +50% Credits.

  So yeah, that happened...

• Le Mans 250 - Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe Full Circuit (30 Laps).

  Goals: Compete in a 250-mile endurance race at Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe (Multiclass Event).

  The Circuit de la Sarthe is one of our favorite tracks to race on thanks in no small part to its group fo challenging surfaces and the overall length, which is superb. Considering its historical reputation and the very fan-friendly way in which it became the "picnic event" of the racing season, the only way that it could be better is if you know, it was transplanted to Australia, which is the correct spelling for the word "Paradise" contrary to what your dictionary claims.

  For this race we get to select from the following gofast rides:

  - 2014 Audi #2 Audi Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro

  - 2011 Audi #2 Audi Sport Team Joest R15+ + TDI

  - 2009 Peugeot #9 Peugeot Sport Total 908

  Targets: The targeted goals for this race are to Finish 1st for the 270,000 Cr. Purse.

  The pair of Team Audi cars may appear to be very similar in both form and function but they are not. Well, they are, but with the quattro you get to sit inside and not be constantly buffeted by the wind, while the R15 gives you that wind-in-the-hair feel. The Peugeot on the other hand is a more sexy throwback to the days when most of the pro-drivers actually gave their cars pet names. Which is why we chose it for this race.

  The setup here is pretty basic - what you will want to bear in mind is that despite the relatively low Lap count overall, the length of this track means you got some racin' to do!

  But before we DO that, let's tweak the Assists and Mods to give us the best race experience AND results that we can, alright then?

  Assists

  (This clearly falls under the YMMV and YOLO Rules)

  • Suggestion Line: Off (12% Bonus)

  • Braking: ABS Off (12% Bonus)

  • Steering: Normal (10% Bonus)

  • Traction & Stability Control: TCS & STM On (0% Bonus)

  • Shifting: Manual with Clutch (7% Bonus)

  • Damage, Fuel & Tire Wear: Cosmetic (0% Bonus)*

  • Rewind: On (0% Bonus)**

  • Total Race Bonus = 41%

    Mod Card Settings

    (Again clearly a YMMV and YOLO Rules matter but, that said, you should use the best you got!)

  • Mod Card #1: Grip Engineer: +12% Grip / +5% Power (Super Rare / Unlimited Use)

  • Mod Card #2: Driver Mastery: +100% Driver Level XP (Super Rare / Single Use)

  • Mod Card #3: Prodigy: +100% XP Boost (Super Rare / Single Use)

    Overall Impact

    +5% Power = 735 Total HP.

    +12% Grip.

    +100% XP = 180,000 XP.

    +100% Driver Level XP = 180,000 XP.

  * Normally we leave this full on for the Simulated Impact but based on the lessons that we learnt from the previous Showcase the potential harm that this setting can do when it is engaged to the fun-factor is sufficient to cause us to rethink using it. In the end we do not regret turning off the simulation of damage, we only regret not needing our spiffy and professional Pit Plan!

  ** So yeah, bottom line here? Long races make for plenty of chances that your focus will drift, and when that happens you NEED to be able to Rewind your way out of what otherwise can be a race-ending mess. No guilt here mates. None whatsoever!

  One last comment - this race is run at night, and it is wicked dark. So if you are not already used to using the shift and clutch this is NOT the race to learn that on. The limited visibility will really give you trouble.

  After you roll victorious across the finish line you may get results something like these:

  Total Cr. Rewards = 650,700 Cr.

  Total Character XP = 540,000 XP (14 Spins!)

  Total Manufacturer Affinity = 360,000 XP (24 Manufacturer Affinity Levels!)

• Nurburgring 125 - Nurburgring Full Circuit (8 Laps).

  Goals: Compete in a 125-mile endurance race at Nurburgring (Multiclass Event).

  At this point with this being our third Endurance Race you should have the basic premise down well... For this one we get to choose from:

  As for the setup go with the Assists you like and the best Mods you have in your collection, right? With that big chunk of Cr. that we just obtained from the previous race you should be very able to add some cards to your collection - we are just saying...

  The Target for this race is First Place for a Purse of 150,000 Cr.

  For the record, at the finish, we scooped up:

  Total Cr. Rewards = 361,500 Cr.

  Total Character XP = 300,000 XP (7 Spins!)

  Total Manufacturer Affinity = 200,000 XP (17 Manufacturer Affinity Levels!)

  So hey, not bad considering the low lap count, right?

  
  2015 Honda #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing IndyCar

• Catalunya 100 - Circuit de Catalunya Grand Prix Circuit (35 Laps).

  Goals: Compete in a 100-mile endurance race at Circuit de Catalunya (Multiclass Event).

  While the previous races were long and arduous this one is actually short and sweet by comparison.... Well it is all relative if you think about it - this one is 100 miles long and requires you to race through 35 laps of a course that most racers think is one of the more challenging...

  For this race you get to choose between:

  - 2011 McLaren #59 McLaren GT 12C GT3

  - 2014 BMW #55 BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE

  Another relatively short (by comparison) Endurance Race of 100 miles on what is arguably a classic race course, this time around we get to choose from:

• (L) SPA Francorchamps 100

  Goals: Compete in a 300-mile endurance race at Sebring International Raceway (Multiclass Event).

  Locked: Complete the Modern GT Spa-Francorchamps Rain Invitational event in The Race Driver Experience to unlock this event.

  Objective: Finish 1st for a 120,000 Cr. Purse.

  For this showcase you get to choose from the following:

  Considering the rather excellent purse for this race, it would be an idea to apply some good Mod Cards to this one if you know, you like Credits as much as we do :)

4. High-Speed Chase

Believe it or don't but the trick for this type of race is not to race against the other cars, or even to race against yourself, but rather it is to race against the trick itself - as in try to make as few mistakes as possible, because it is in making as few mistakes as possible that you will find that which makes victory happen!

The idea here is that you are sitting in a virtual rocket compared to the cars you are racing against - so they get a nice and comfie headstart. You just need to catch them up and pass them for the win!

These Showcases recreate historical events and races in a literal spread of racing history going practically back to the beginning of what is considered modern pro-racing.

• The Birth of Grand Prix Racing - Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Full Circuit (4 Laps).

  Goals: Compete wheel-to-wheel in pre-war era Grand Prix race cars (Circuit Race).

  Unlocks: Race Driver Experience Modern Grand Prix Yas Marina Night Invitational Showcase Event.

  Targets: Finish the Race in the Top 3 to earn a possible 21,000 Cr. Purse.

  For this event you can choose between the following two classic (read that historic) race cars:

  - 1939 Maserati 8CTF.

  - 1939 Auto Union Type D.

  This is a standard Circuit Race on one of the more historic circuits utilizing historic models of open-wheel racing cars, and it takes place at a time when the International Olympic Committee were seriously considering adding auto-racing to the officially accepted Olympic Sports - and wouldn't that have been wicked cool?!

  By the way there are very few races in which choosing the in-car cockpit view are quite as rewarding and beautiful as it is with this particular event / race. Well in our opinion anyways...

• Classic Road-Racing Sports Cars - Silverstone Racing Circuit Grand Prix Circuit (5 Laps)

  Goals: Race against the world's most beautiful early race cars in a classic Silverstone rain storm. (Circuit Race)

  Unlocks: Race Driver Experience Modern GT Sebring Late Night Invitational Showcase Event.

  Targets: Finish the Race in the Top 3 to earn a possible 23,000 Cr. Purse.

  For this one you get to choose between the following historical whips:

  - 1961 Maserati Tipo 51 Brdcage

  - 1958 Aston Martin DBR1

  - 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR

  - 1956 Lotus Eleven

  - 1956 Jaguar D-Type

  - 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa

  There is no question that most difficult part of this race / event was the choosing of the car we used to race it. No joking mates, the stable for this race is made up of what can arguably be considered the cream of the racing crop - not simply classic or historic - or classic AND historic - but both as well as the most desirable rides in the history of the sport.

  Most of the hobbyist racers that we know personally would pay large just to SIT in one of these, let alone push the ignition button and drive it. We're just saying - woof!

  If you are curious, after literally ten minutes of torturous internal debate we ended up choosing the 1956 Lotus Eleven - but it was really a toss up and it might just as well have ended up being the 300 SLR or the DBR1. God what sexy beasts!

• America's Muscle Car Battle - Road America Full Circuit (4 Laps).

  Goals: Relive the pony car battle of the 1960s as it took place in showrooms and on the track (Circuit Race).

  Unlocks: Track Day Shootout Modern American Muscle Shootout Showcase Event.

  Targets: Finish the Race in the Top 3 to earn a possible 20,000 Cr. Purse.

  This time around you get to choose from the following classic muscle cars:

  The capabilities of the cars available for this event are pretty close in terms of speed and acceleration, so it really does not matter which you choose... So just go for the one you like best instead of trying to figure out which of the cars might be fastest.

• Ford & Ferrari at Le Mans - Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe Old Musanne Circuit (3 Laps).

  Goals: Return to one of the greatest manufacturer rivalries ever fought on the circuit at Le Mans (Multiclass Race)

  The trick to this race is simple - you cannot allow yourself to get pinned or trapped into ANY of the pile-ups. If you do, the three cars that are in the lead will instantly create a gap you have no hope of closing despite the generous Lap count for this Showcase Event.

  The bottom line? You have to be very proactive in avoiding getting pinned or trapped, even if that means driving on the grass and cutting corners. If you are not in 4th position at the end of the first lap and in with the lead trio chances are you never will be.

• Vintage Experimental Prototypes - Lime Rock Full Circuit (12 Laps).

  Goals: Race in Group 7 and Can-Am race cars that pushed the boundaries of regulations and physics (Circuit Race).

  By this point you should have the idea for this class of race - so make up your mind as to which of the following you are going to use, and get racing!

  The track at Watkins Glen is not a very technical one - in fact in this configuration it does not even have a single challenging turn. What it does have is speed, grace, and some fun sprint sections. Even better, with just a little aggro in the corners you can very easily dominate this track!

  Completing this one will unlock a new Showcase Event - Race Driver Experience: Modern GT Daytona Late Night Invitational! So well done you! Another Showcase to close out!

• (L) 1960s Grand Prix Legends -

  Goals: Experience the danger and exhilaration of open-wheel Grand Prix racing in the 1960s.

  Locked: Complete race 2 of the Stormfront Shootout in the Professional Racing Volume to unlock this event.

  Targets: Finish in the Top 3 for a 24,000 Cr. Purse.

  For this race you can choose from the following racers:

  - 1966 McLaren M2B

  - 1967 Brabham BT24

  Considering the experience that we had in the final Volume of the campaign, this is just cake. Bearing in mind that, unlike with the campaign, we do not have the option to alter the tune or add Mod Card alterations for this type of Showcase Event.

6. Passing Challenge

This type of event is basic - you just pass every can that you can pass on the track, as fast as you can, in the limited amount of time and track that you have available. Simple enough, right?

Bear in mind that any car on the track that you rub / bump / hit will be disqualified as a pass -so it will not count! So try not to rub/bump/hit ANY of the cars on the track.

• Ford GT Challenge -- Sebring International Raceway Full Circuit (2 Laps).

  The track offers a combination of a fast and curvy open stretch followed by a fairly technical zip-turn and then a graceful curve to the finish. So the trick is to just get ahead of Stig and then go aggro on the curves to open a gap, and Bob's yer Uncle mates!

  Bear in mind that even if you are a track hero for this one in the daytime, when you race at night it is almost like racing on a track you never raced before! The track literally appears in the pool of your headlamps, and you have to learn it all over again. So yeah, there's that!

• V8 Supercar Bathurst Invitational -- Mount Panorama Circuit Bathurst Circuit I5 Laps)

  Goals: Experience bumper-to-bumper racing at Mount Panorama Circuit in a V8 Supercar (Circuit Race).

  Objective: Finish in the Top 3 for a 24,000 Cr. Purse.

• Formula E Long Beach Invitational -- Long Beach Full Circuit (7 Laps)

  Goals: Experience cutting edge racing at Long Beach in an all-electric Formula E race car (Circuit Race).

  Objective: Finish in the Top 3 for a 21,000 Cr. Purse.

  If you have been following this WTG when you complete this race you will unlock the Achievement Accomplished (15g) Complete 60 Race Objectives.

• Modern GT SPA Rain Invitational -- Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Full Circuit (4 Laps).

  For this one you get to climb into a Dodge Viper SRT GoFast Super GT Zoomer! Yeah... That's like, elite technical speak from like, the pro-driver um, talk thingy. Yeah. So yeah, pick your Mod Cards, line up on the track, and GO!

  A moderately technical course with two high-speed banked runs, this well-known and even historic track offers up the sort of mix in challenges and cornering discipline that makes ramming a GT along its ways all the more fun. Well, there is the matter of 5-Laps to consider - and while we hate to be critical of a challenge, we would have liked it much better if it had been 4-Laps. Just saying.

• (L) Modern Grand Prix Yas Marina Night Invitational --

  Goals: Experience the pinnacle of motorsports by racing at night at Yas Marina in a Modern Grand Prix race car.

  Locked: Complete the The Birth of Grand Prix Racing in Moments in Motorsport to unlock this event.

  Objective: Finish in the Top 3 for a 20,000 Cr. Purse.

  A night race on the Nordschleife - yeah, that sounds like fun. Seriously it is fun as it is just the one lap. More than that might not have been.

• (L) Endurance Prototypes Sebring Rain Invitational --

  Goals: Experience the danger of racing in the rain at Sebring International Raceway in an Endurance Prototype race car.

  Locked: Complete race 5 of the Pure Motorsport Showdown in the Grand Touring Volume to unlock this event.

  Objective: Finish in the Top 3 for a 24,000 Cr. Purse.

  Bearing in mind that this is a Multiclass Race, which means that a lower class group of cars will be sharing the track with you. That means that by the final lap you will be forced to make your way through the GT pack that will be in your way. Considering that this is a wet track race, that can be an issue...

9. Track Day Shootout

These showcase events provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your taste in whips and your ability to drive them...

• Ultimate SPO COM Shootout -- Watkins Glen Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Choose your favorite team from among several cars and complete head-to-head against other Ultimate SpoCom rivals (Circuit Race).

  Targets: Finish 1st for the 4,200 Cr. Purse.

  For this showcase you get to choose from:

  - 2010 Nixxan 370Z

  - 2015 Subaru WRX STI

  - 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR

  Which you choose is a matter of taste - bearing in mind that whichever it is, you will be racing against the two you did not pick. So at least you know what you are facing for this.

• Sport Icon Shootout -- Hockenheimring Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Choose your favorite from among several cars and compete head-to-head against other Sport Icon rivals Circuit Race).

  Unlocks: Use the Mercedes-AMG to unlock Top Gear Showcase Mercedes-Benz E63 Bowling Showcase Event.

  Targets: Finish 1st for the 3,900 Cr. Purse.

  For this race you get to choose from the following whips:

  Locked: Complete the American's Muscle Car Battle event in Moments in Motorsport to unlock this event.

  Targets: Finish 1st for the 3,300 Cr. Purse.

  For this race you will choose from the following:

  -- 2014 Ford Mustang GT

  -- 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

  -- 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

  Again you will be racing the two cars you did not choose - but with these three being pretty evenly matched, that does not make too big an impact.

• (L) Exotic GT Shootout --

  Goals:

  Locked: Complete the Ford GT Sprint event in High-Speed Chase to unlock this event.

  Targets: Finish 1st for the 4,100 Cr. Purse.

  For this one you get to choose from:

  -- 2017 Ford GT

  -- 2009 Ferrari 458 Italia

  Personally after racing with all three of the choices we thought that the Ferrari had something of an edge here.

• (L) Track Toys Shootout --

  Goals: Choose your favorite from among several cars and compete head-to-head against other Track Toy rivals.

  Locked: Complete race 2 of the World Championship Tour in the Ultimate Motorsport Volume to unlock this event.

  Targets: Finish 1st for the 2,700 Cr. Purse.

  For this event you can choose from the following cars:

  - 2013 Caterham Superlight R500

  - 2013 KTM X-Bow R

  - 2014 BAC Mono

  This event is a single lap, under wet relatively harsh conditions. You race against the two Track Toys you did not pick, and you need to finish in first place. Simple enough, right?

• (L) Hyper Car Shootout --

  Goals: Choose your favorite from among several cars and compete head-to-head against other Hypercar rivals.

  Locked: Complete race 5 of the European Tour in the Sport Icons Volume to unlock this event.

  Targets: Finish 1st for the 9,200 Cr. Purse.

  For this event you can choose from the following:

  - 2011 Koenigsegg Agera

  - 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari

  - 2013 McLaren P1

  So, another 1-lap race in which you race against the cars you did not pick. But this is at the Full Circuit at Le Mans, which is a track that is just made for Hypercar Shootouts!

10. Top Gear Showcase

Mostly classed as gimmick or exhibition events, we class the Showcase Events here at the Top Gear Test Track as Fun!

• BMW M4 Bowling -- Top Gear Outer Loop (1 Lap)

  Goals: Knock down as many pins as possible in the BMW M4 on a rainy Top Gear Test Track (Top Gear Bowling Event)

  Targets: Score 300,000 Points for a Purse of 1,800 Cr.

  Due to the rain and overcast it can be a little difficult seeing the groups of pins - so you will find that pumping the gas to maintain a minimum speed will pay the bigger dividends.

• Micro Cars Underdog Challenge -- Top Gear Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Just because a car is slow doesn't mean it can't be a champion. Scramble to lead the pack while racing cars that are classic, rare, or just plain strange. These are the Underdogs (Circuit Race)

  Objective: Finish in the Top 3 for a 2,700 Cr. Purse.

  For this race you get to choose from the following:

  -- 1965 MINI Cooper S

  -- 1968 Abarth esseesse

  -- 1963 Volkswagen Beetle

• Hot Rods Underdog Challenge -- Top Gear Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Just because a car is slow doesn't mean it can't be a champion. Scramble to lead the pack while racing cars that are classic, rare, or just plain strange. These are the Underdogs (Circuit Race)

  Objective: Finish in the Top 3 for a 2,700 Cr. Purse.

  For this race you get to choose from the following rides:

  -- 1949 Mercury Coupe

  -- 1940 Ford De Luxe Coupe

  -- 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

  -- 1956 Ford F-100

  So the thing with this showcase is that these are not - not ANY of them - hotrods. They are in every respect road boats. Slow, clunky, and all over the road in turns. That said tho, they are all pretty evenly matched in terms of power and handling, so this is really all about your skills as a racer and your ability NOT to get trapped in a pack!

  To be honest, finishing ANYWHERE in the Top 3 is perfectly respectable!

• Trucks Underdog Challenge -- Top Gear Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Just because a car is slow doesn't mean it can't be a champion. Scramble to lead the pack while racing cars that are classic, rare, or just plain strange. These are the Underdogs (Circuit Race)

  Unlocks: Top Gear Showcase Ford Passing Challenge (in the Ford Bronco '75) Showcase Event.

  Targets: Finish in the Top 3 for a Purse of 2,700 Cr.

  For this one you get to choose from the following:

  - 1983 GMC Vandura G-1500

  - 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

  - 1997 Land Rover Defender

  - 2011 Ford Transit SuperSportVan

  - 1975 Ford Bronco

  - 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha

  For this race we chose the 1975 Ford Bronco - mostly due to the fact that it is required to unlock the Ford Passing Challenge as noted above! You only get the one lap for this.

  If you have been following this guide, completing this Showcase Event should unlock the Achievement: Meeting Objectives (10g) Complete 30 Race Objectives.

• Power Lap Masters -- Top Gear Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Race against some of the fastest cars to ever run on the Top Gear Test Track (Circuit Race).

  Targets: Finish 1st for a Purse of 2,700 Cr.

  For this one you get to choose from the following:

  -- 2014 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4

  -- 2013 Audi R8 Coupe V10 plus 5.2 FSI quattro

  -- 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe

  -- 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition

  As odd as this may seem, these are all pretty evenly matched, so pick the one that speaks to you! The only trick to this is remembering NOT to keep curving to the left as you make the center of the figure-8 and make the correct right turn.

• Track Day Masters -- Top Gear Full Circuit (1 Lap)

  Goals: Race against some of the fastest Track Toys to ever run on the Top Gear Test Track (Circuit Race).

  Unlocks: Bondurant Autocross BAC Mono Event.

  Targets: Finish 1st for a Purse of 2,700 Cr.

  For this event you can choose from the following:

  - 2013 Caterham Superlight R500

  - 2014 BAC Mono

  - 2013 KTM X-Bow R

  - 2009 Lotus Eleven

  Helpful Hint: If you find yourself having trouble telling where to go, it might be an idea to turn the Suggestion Line on if just for this one...

• Land Rover Passing Challenge -- Top Gear West Circuit (5 Laps).

  Goals: Test your skills by passing as many classic Land Rovers as possible while driving the 2014 Range Rover Supercharged (Track Days).

  Targets: 11 Cars for the 5,900 Cr. Purse.

• Jeep Passing Challenge -- Top Gear East Circuit (3 Laps).

  Goals: Test your skills by passing as many classic Jeeps as possible while driving the 2014 Jeep Cherokee SRT (Track Days).

  Targets: 13 Cars for the 3,900 Cr. Purse.

• (L) Mercedes-Benz E63 Bowling --

  Goals: Knock down as many pins as possible in the XX on the Top Gear Test Track (Top Gear Bowling Event)

  Locked: Complete the Sport Icon Shootout event in Track Day Shootout in the Mercedes AMG GT to unlock this event.

  Targets: 150,000 Points for a 1,800 Cr. Purse.

• Ford Passing Challenge --

  Goals: Test your skills by passing as many XX as possible while driving the XX (Track Days).

  Locked: Complete the Underdog Challenge - Trucks event in TopGear Showcase in the Ford Bronco '75 to unlock this event.

  Targets: 13 Cars for the 7,100 Cr. Purse.

• Jaguar F-Type Bowling --

  Goals: Knock down as many pins as possible in the Jaguar F-Type on the Top Gear Test Track (Top Gear Bowling Event)

  Locked: Complete race 2 of the Rolling Roads Tour in the Grand Touring Volume to unlock this event.

  Unlocks: Top Gear Stig 1-1 Jauguar R Coupe F-Type You Versus the Stig Showcase Event.

  Targets: 135,000 Points for a 1,800 Cr. Purse.

  Completing this event will unlock the Top Gear Stig 1-1 Jauguar R Coupe F-Type You Versus the Stig Showcase Event.

When you complete the final Showcase Event you will unlock the Achievement: Showstopper (40g) Complete All Showcase Events.
