Along the way, there are a number of vital things a manager can do to better help their squads achieve greatness. Though most of these are on the smaller side in the overall grand scheme of things, they can turn out to be more valuable than not along the way. By following these five simple tips, a manager can quickly go from a nothing zero to a franchise's hero:
1) The mentality setting is key. Consider control and attacking as counter-attacking, and defensive and counter as possession football. It may sound a tad opposite and counter-intuitive, but it will actually help in more way than you might figure.
2) Always inspect pre-match and post-match reports. This information in constructed by your Chief Data Analyst and Chief Scout, two individuals that are there to help you and your squad succeed game in and game out.
3) Don't expect every player to get a high rating in every game, even if you're on a historic winning streak. Much like the real world, even the best footballer have an off night every now and then. On top of that, about two or three Players will have a performance drop every couple of games as they sacrifice for the greater good of the team.
4) When nothing seems to make sense and you keep losing game after game, ask yourself the most basic of questions and move forward from there. Why aren't you Players giving it 100%? Why can't your team seem to score? Which of your players loses the most balls? Do you have a decent set-piece taker? Is your goalkeeper truly talented? Are your playmakers doing what you paying them to do?
5) Take things one step at a time. Don't abandon ship and try to fix every little thing at once, as you might end up harming the good aspects of your squad. Simply adjust from one thin to another over a given amount of time, undoing any changes that don't have the results you're looking for.
