You can access this function by purchasing the Cathedral of Shadows app as part of a main story Quest very early in the game. This app is run by Mido, the AI that will assist you in fusing Demons or recalling them from your book (compendium).
This process allows you to combine at least two Demons to create a new one. The resulting demon will inherit the Skills of its parent demons, along with its default skills. Due to the fusion level limit, you can’t fuse demons higher than your character’s level. This however, can be increased by purchasing a specific Burroughs app.
These are the top three Demons you can fuse based on the demons you currently have in your party/ stock and your level. This is the easiest and very basic method of fusing demons.
The game will also allow you to make an intensive search of possible Demons to fuse within your level and with the demons you currently have. You can specify the attributes, Skills, type, down to the specific demons that you want to include or exclude.
When fusing a demon, you’ll get a preview about the resulting demon’s Skills. You have the freedom to take over and manually specify the skills you want it to inherit. It is possible to manually pass the skills you want to keep, especially if the parent Demons were fused and their skills were manually assigned.
Demons created through this method are unique and will require specific demons to create. They have special Skills and stats making them valuable additions to your party. Some special demons must be unlocked first before you can create them.
Before fusing, it is generally recommended to register and overwrite the existing copy of your Demons in your book/ compendium and save your game. In rare instances, a fusion attempt may go wrong and you’ll end up with an entirely different demon from what you originally planned. If you’re lucky, the resulting demon will have a level higher than your current limit and even possess a myriad of Skills otherwise unavailable from your original fusion attempt. If the resulting demon is not to your liking, just load a previous save and attempt again.
This is your database that keeps track of the Demons you have encountered, fused or evolved. All changes will be tracked, down to the amount of experience they have acquired so far. (Stocked demons earn combat experience outside the battle as well) It is generally recommended to register and overwrite the existing copy of your demons in your book/ compendium and save your game. However, you have to be careful not to overwrite a better copy of a demon with an outdated one. This is true if you have raised a demon through combat grinding; you don’t want to overwrite it with the same demon but with lower level and stats.
You can also summon previously recorded Demons through the Compendium, in exchange for some macca. Higher level demons will obviously cost more. If you have a lot of spare macca to spare, you may want to recover base demons you lost from a fusion and still keep their last state since you registered them. Demons with red names mean they’re outdated copies while green colored demon names indicate that they’re more updated with what you currently have in your compendium.
