Scarlet Nexus is an action-JRPG from Bandai Namco iset on a post-apocalyptic "brain punk" future where technology and psychic abilities collide. As with normal JRPG mechanics, your characters gain EXP in combat. This allows them to level up and increase their core stats. In Scarlet Nexus, leveling up is also crucial for collecting another key feature of the game - Brain Points. In our EXP Farming guide, we will tackle the ideal setup to get the most EXP as efficiently as possible.

Why Farm EXP?

If you’re just playing through the game without aiming to get a platinum trophy or unlock all achievements, you don’t need to grind for EXP. You can finish the game comfortably at LV60-65, and you can even attain that level with minimal grinding. However, if you’re a perfectionist or a trophy/achievement hunter, you’ll need to get your main characters to LV80. This is the level where you’ll have enough BP (Brain Points) to learn all skills in the Brain Map. The related trophies/achievements are:

* Expanded Brain Functionality: Learned all the skills in one of the Brain Map categories.

* Owner of an Excellent Brain: Learned all the skills on the Brain Map.

Recommended Equipment

If you have purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game, you can use the Special Contract Plug-In to get +5% EXP and Kin boost. Later in the game, you’ll also be able to get the Combat Experience Assist plug-in that also provides +5% EXP gain only. I don’t know yet if two CEA’s effects stack or if SCP and CEA effects stack. But keeping them as early as possible will help you squeeze in those bonus EXP as you progress through the game.

Recommended Skills

Farming EXP is directly affected by your Brain Drive and Brain Field since these two modes enable an EXP multiplier that can reach x1.50 and x1.80 respectively. As such, learning the necessary skills focused on accelerating the activation of these modes and EXP build up will help you maximize the efficiency of your farming. Here are the recommended skills to get:

Brain Crush EXP Bonus Increases EXP gained when finishing off enemies with a Brain Crush.
Overkill Increase the EXP bonus when hitting stunned enemies with depleted crush gauges.
Brain Drive Gauge Charge Rate Up Brain Drive Gauge Accumulation rate increased by 20%
Brain Drive: Bonus Multiplier Up While Brain Drive is active, the EXP bonus multiplier gain is increased.
Brain Field: Extension 1 & 2 Prolongs the duration of Brain Field by 5 seconds each.
Brain Field: Overkill Increase the EXP bonus when hitting stunned enemies with depleted crush gauges while Brain Field is active.

Recommended Grinding Area

The best area to grind in the game is Sumeragi Tomb - Memories of Impasse. You’ll only be able to access this location in Phase 12 (the last phase). You can get around 220,000 EXP here, without the multipliers. If you’re able to keep your Brain Drive and Brain Field active most of the time, you’ll be able to maintain the x1.5 and x1.8 multipliers regularly. With EXP boosting gear, you’ll get even more EXP.
