Scarlet Nexus is an action-JRPG from Bandai Namco iset on a post-apocalyptic "brain punk" future where technology and psychic abilities collide. As with normal JRPG mechanics, your characters gain EXP in combat. This allows them to level up and increase their core stats. In Scarlet Nexus, leveling up is also crucial for collecting another key feature of the game - Brain Points. In our EXP Farming Guide, we will tackle the ideal setup to get the most EXP as efficiently as possible.
This is a special state where Kasane or Yuito gets temporary buffs like increased attack speed, reduced psychokinesis gauge usage, and speeds up the lifting of PK (psychokinesis) objects. As Kasane or Yuito take damage and defeat enemies, the Brain Drive gauge will slowly fill up. Once filled, it will activate immediately and will remain activated until the gauge is drained completely. Outside combat, the gauge’s drain will be considerably reduced. Unfortunately, there’s no way of manually turning this state on or off.
There’s a dedicated Brain Map category for further improving your Brain Drive. The best ones to get as early as possible are the following:
Brain Drive Gauge Charge Rate Up | Boosts brain drive accumulation rate by 20% |
Brain Drive: Status Up | During Brain Drive, power, defense, and attack are increased by 10% |
Brain Drive: Auto Heal | During Brain Drive, HP automatically replenishes. |
Brain Drive: SAS Gauge Restore | Activating brain drive completely restores all SAS gauges. |
Brain Drive: Restore Brain Drive 1 | Slightly restore the brain drive gauge when you defeat enemies with Brain Crush while the brain drive is active. |
Additionally, you can get a helpful EXP multiplier going while on Brain Drive. Executing actions like brain crushes, perfect dodges, and psychokinesis follow-ups will increase the EXP multiplier up to x1.50. This multiplier will be deactivated once Brain Drive ends.
Once activated, Kasane or Yuito will take all enemies and their allies to a spatial anomaly where they have heightened abilities and powers. Unlike Brain Drive, you can manually activate and deactivate Brain Field. Due to the immense load this mode applies to the user, you can only fight in a brain field in a very limited amount of time. This is represented by the timer in the top-middle section of the screen. You have to deactivate Brain Field before the timer runs out; otherwise, your character’s brain will overload and he/she’ll die, leading to the game over screen.
During brain field, the following effects become active:
* SAS can’t be used
* Normal attacks become wide-ranged melee sweep attacks. However, you’ll be vulnerable to counterattacks.
* You can now throw objects using psychokinesis even while moving.
* You can gather several objects nearby and drop them all at once on the target.
Brain Field doesn’t make your character invincible so it’s still possible for your enemies (especially bosses) to pummel you to defeat. To further enhance your Brain Field effects, you can unlock these ideal Brain Field skills in the Brain Map.
Brain Field: Reduce Damage | Reduces incoming damage while Brain Field is active. |
Brain Field also has an EXP Multiplier. However, it’s recommended to enter Brain Drive, get the multiplier up to x1.5 then transition to the Brain Field before Brain Drive ends. This will allow you to get the multiplier up to 1.8 max.
