Scarlet Nexus is an action-JRPG from Bandai Namco iset on a post-apocalyptic "brain punk" future where technology and psychic abilities collide. The game features two protagonists, each with their own playthroughs. The game features an EX New Game system which allows you to start a new game using a cleared save file and carry over helpful features like character level and brain points. In our Scarlet Nexus EX New Game guide, we will discuss how to unlock this feature and what will be carried over when you start an EX New Game.

New Game+ is a staple feature of good JRPGs which allows you to start another playthrough with some aspects from your previous playthrough to be carried over, giving you a chance to become a powerhouse character right from the start. Scarlet Nexus is no different; it has a feature called EX New Game which players can take advantage of, especially those aiming to get a platinum trophy or collect all 53 achievements the game has to offer.

After defeating the last boss, credits roll, and the epilogue, you’ll be asked if you want to save your cleared data. We recommend saving it on a separate save slot. Make sure to keep this cleared data separate and don’t overwrite it other than an updated Cleared Data (which will require you to beat the final boss again) Now, you have two options on what to do with this cleared data: load the cleared data or start an EX New Game playthrough with it.

Loading the Cleared Data

This will allow you to resume your progress. You’ll start off back in the hideout and with all maps accessible at this point. The last set of quests are also unlocked, where you can get the unique materials needed to craft your initial party members’ best weapons. If you want to update your Cleared Save data, you’ll need to beat the boss again then overwrite your initial Cleared Data with an updated one.

Starting EX New Game

You’ll find this option in the main menu. After selecting it, you’ll be asked to select a cleared save data to start with, then select the other protagonist you didn’t select before.

Upon starting EX New Game, you’ll have the following features carried over:

* The selected protagonist’s level from the previous playthrough will be carried over.

* Kins (money), visual attachments (accessories), materials, and consumables are carried over.

* All plug-ins you’ve acquired in the previous playthrough will be carried over.

* The Brain Map will be reset. However, all the BP you have invested in skills will be fully refunded. You’ll be able to use them as soon as the Brain Map menu is unlocked.

* All of your teammates’ unlocked plug-in slots will carry over. It’s strongly recommended to give them both versions of the Plug-in Parallelization Programs to unlock their 2nd and 3rd plug-in slots during your first playthrough so that they’ll start with 3 plug-in slots on your second playthrough.

Additionally, here are some other important notes about EX New Game.

* SAS and Bond Levels will be reset back to 0. You’ll have to build your bonds again from scratch.

* The shop inventory will carry advanced items that are previously not available this early in the game.

* Exchange items are not completely unlocked. This means you can’t exchange for end-game items early on (including the best weapons for your main characters)

* Enemy compendium list will reset.

* Locations are still story-locked and they’ll be unlocked as you progress through the story.
