Bounty Hunting Basics

These activities can be acquired from the Sheriff’s office in specific towns after completing the story mission “Good, Honest, Snake Oil”. Unfortunately, these jobs are not regular so you won’t be using these activities as a reliable source of income. To accept a bounty target, you have to inspect a wanted poster posted in the sheriff’s office or police station. Once you get the information about the target, the related mission will be activated and the target’s location, marked in the map.

Most of the targets need to be taken alive while there are certain ones that you can kill but you’ll still be required to bring the body back as evidence. Dead or alive wanted criminals are easy to deal with. However for those you need to bring home alive, you have to disable them using non-lethal methods then hogtie them with your lasso.

Take note as well that rival bounty hunters will sometimes intercept you and attempt to steal the target so they can get the cash themselves. Don’t hesitate to kill them and loot their bodies for extra items with no honor loss.

Upon returning to the sheriff or police station, you’ll be instructed to bring the criminal to the cell (or body wagon if you’re already carrying a corpse).
