Digging
Make sure you never dig straight down as you can fall into a ravine or an underground lake of lava.
Dig With Torches
Save your shovel's durability by using torches instead to dig sand or gravel, this method is very fast. The video below will show you how this is done. Note: Using torches to break gravel this way will never drop any flint.
Fast Travelling
If you sprint and jump at the same time it’s faster than just sprinting.
Jumping
Before you attempt a jump make sure it is possible. Use the list below as a guide to see how long you can jump when sprinting, walking and so on:
Normal Jump:
2 blocks and 1 up.
Sprint Jump:
4 blocks, or 3 blocks and 1 up.
Sneak Jump:
1 block.
Normal Jump With Block Right Above Head:
1 block.
Sprint Jump With Block Right Above Head:
1 block.
Sneak Jump With Block Right Above Head:
Cannot jump over 1 block gap.
Compass
On the computer edition of Minecraft you can always figure out what direction to go by watching the sun, moon, and stars as they always move towards the west. Note: On the Pocket Edition of Minecraft they move south.
Peaceful Mode
If you set the world difficulty to Peaceful mode when a zombie or creeper is causing you problems or you cannot find any food to eat your problem will be solved because doing this will quickly regenerate your health, your hunger bar won't hurt you, and all hostile Mobs will instantly disappear.
Motion Sensor
You can create a simple motion sensor by surrounding your house with wooden planks which if the Mobs should walk on will make plank sounds and alert you of their presence. A good radius to lay your planks of wood is 5 blocks out.
Potions
To get the maximum effect of a potion throw it in the sky and have it land on your body.
Armour
If you open your inventory you can shift-click your armour on and off.
Infinite Water
You can create a pool of water that can be infinitely used by putting two water sources in two corners of a square and taking water from each of the corners.
Cobwebs
Don't waste your swords durability breaking cobwebs, bring a pair of shears instead.
Silverfish
Use the lighter when you go up against silverfish so they can’t reproduce.
Wither
Go up against Wither in a confined space so it can’t maneuver and hurt you.
Skeleton
If you are 100% sure the skeleton will shoot you before you can hit it you need to try and block the shot with your sword.
Cave Spiders
Use a bucket of water or lava to suffocate cave spiders. Cave spiders can hold their breath for 16 seconds, and then die after another 6 seconds. If you can flood or bury the spiders, you should be able to kill them with relative ease.
Endermen
Attacking the enderman's feet will not make the enderman teleport. If it does teleport, get to a 2 block high space, as doing so will prevent the enderman from attacking you.
Pumpkin
If you have a pumpkin on your head endermen will not attack you. You can attack them without being attacked in return.
Creepers
When fighting creepers without a bow, attack, walk back, attack, walk back. Just keep repeating until the creeper dies
Sleep
Unless you want the bed to explode on you don't try to sleep in either the Nether or the End.
