Chapter 13-4: The Final Guardian

Ready for the final set of boss fights?

Head forward and you'll see a scene. This big guardian is our first test. This initial battle (yes we said initial) is a two-part fight.

PHASE 1:

To start out with, he'll begin shooting green sparks along the ground at you. You could hide behind the pillars and slowly advance towards him that way but it's not really necessary with your double jump and dash.

Our goal here is to het up close to him and start pounding away on his shield, which is represented by the green relics he puts up. It will break with enough punishment. To help protect himself (as he will stop the green sparks when you are close), he will summon red relics from the sky which shoot down at the ground and cause fire to spit up.

In order to overcome this you must get in 2-3 hits, then move a bit, then attack again. Hit and run if you must. Come in from different angels. Keep up the pressure and it will break. Once the shield breaks he will repel you backwards (making the stage work for him) and will then change his strategy.

Now he will shoot stuff at you but once you get close he pulls out a sword. Knowing how to attack him like this helps a ton (lucky you, getting the inside scope right here). First he does a standard swing. Hang back as he does this. Next he will do an overhead slam. This causes an area attack. What you want to do is to jump (or jump and dash) near him when he does this (get near him or the edge of the area attack) so that once you recover you can smack him.

All it takes is one good combo from you to send him packing and end the first part of this fight.

PHASE 2:

Now onto the second part of the fight.

Follow the right path over to a new area. Head upward but once the guardian appears head back from where you came. He is going to shoot a forcewave down the entire arena and try to make you run into some red explosive crystals. If you turn and ran when he popped up you'll be ok.

Head back at him now and he will swap out green sparks for purple orbs. He will chuck these at you and they will cause small area damage. Still, fairly easy to dodge.

Rush him once more and start pounding on the shield. Run away when the fire comes and pick up again from a different direction or angle. Soon you will have it tore down.

This makes him pull out his sword again after pushing you back. Avoid the purple fire and close in on him, then once again avoid the first swipe while jumping / dashing into place on the second and you will surely be able to get a good combo in.

Once you do get him you will see a scene. From here simply follow the path and kill the enemies you meet until you see a scene, leading to the fianl part of the game.
