Horizon Forbidden West is a stunning, massive, open-world game. You’ll gain access to various armor sets in the game, providing various protective properties, perks, and buffs. The game doesn’t have extensive personalization options but at least you can change the color of your armor with the help of Dyes. In this short page, we will discuss how you can change your armors’ color scheme with the help of Dyes.

Overview

Armor Dyes give players an option to personalize their favorite armor with different preset color schemes. You can do this by talking to any Dyer (Outfit Dye) NPCs in major settlements.

There’s a selection of default colors available; to unlock the dye (color set), you only need to exchange the required number of dye plants (see below). Once a dye is unlocked, you only need to pay 25 shards to apply the unlocked dye / color scheme to your armor. You can freely replace the color schemes based on the ones you’ve unlocked, as you please.

Take note that some colors are only available to certain armor designs (Carja, Tenakh, Oseram, Utaru, or Nora). On top of the default dyes, additional dyes can be unlocked by completing various activities, or triggering unmarked world events, which we will list down below.

Dye plants are normally found on cliff faces though there are no fixed locations for each plant type since the game randomly generates them when you’re near. That said, it is highly recommended to pick up dye plants whenever you encounter them while exploring or doing quests.
