How to Increase Inventory Space

Although you begin Borderlands 3 with a decent amount of storage space to store your guns and ammo you will quickly realise as you progress through the game that you will need a lot more to hold everything. Check out our How to Increase Inventory Space to find out how you can solve this problem.

When you start out in Borderlands 3 you can only hold up to 15 different items in your backpack. It will not be until you have reached Sanctuary, which takes place when the Crimson Raiders head to Promethea that you will be able to speak with Marcus who has a variety of upgrades that you can make to weapons, abilities, and storage capacity. These are Storage Deck Upgrades or SDU's as they are more commonly known as and they will allow you to increase your storage limit.

There are several types of SDU's available, the one that you will be particularly interested in to begin with will be the Backpack SDU. When purchased this SDU will increase your backpack space by 3, giving you the ability to hold even more guns and items. You will find that upgrading SDU's early in the game is expensive so you need to think carefully what you invest in therefore it is advised that you only increase the capacity of ammo for weapons you often use.
