How to Defeat Killavolt

One of the hardest bosses to beat in Borderlands 3 is Killavolt. He appears in Lectra City when at the end of the side mission 'Kill Killavolt. What makes Killavolt so difficult to defeat is his ability to deal AoE attacks, some of which are unavoidable and his immunity to shock damage. This fight can be broken down into three phases, each one tougher than the last. This How to Defeat Killabolt guide will give you tips that will help you take down this formidible boss.

Phase 1

The first phase will begin when you enter The Bone Zone of Lectra City. Electricity will strike the yellow tiles on the ground from above. Avoid the electricity by jumping and stay away from the yellow tiles which will be electrified. While you are doing this you need to deal critical damage by shooting him in the back or crotch whenever the opportunity arises. Be extra careful whenever Killavolt raises his arms as this indicates he is about to attack. If you pay attention you will be able to easily avoid his attacks and get the needed damage to deplete his blue bar.

Phase 2

In the second phase of the fight Killavolt will disappear and be replaced by his minions which you will need to deal with. When Killavolt eventually reappears you need to continue the same pattern of attack as before. This time though Killavolt will electrify the whole floor in waves and your objective now is to not only to attack his back and crotch but also not take too much damage while waiting for opportunities to present themselves. To make matters worse Killavolt will now spawn more enemies and charge at you more frequently than he did previously. Once you manage to deplete his blue bar again the last phase of the fight will begin.

Phase 3

In the final phase of the fight Killavolt will have a shield around him, spawn more enemies and throw a big electricity ball at you. To make things even more difficult he will continue to electrify the whole floor which cannot be dodged without taking some damage. Once you have whittled down his last health bar Killavolt will fall.
