Although duping has been patched out of Borderlands 3 there is still one method you can use that still works. Check out our how to Dupe Weapons guide to see how you can share your Legendary Weapons with your friends online or in split-screen co-op.
This duping weapons exploit (this also works on items) involves reloading old saves and works 100%, it is currently the only way that you will be able to dupe weapons. Duping is a term for copying and is short for 'duplicate' and using the following method you will be able to make endless copies of the same weapon. Below are the four steps you need to follow to dupe any weapon in Borderlands 3.
Step 1
To begin with you need to make a backup of your Borderlands 3 save file. This can be done using either a USB or cloud backup.
Step 2
Drop or trade the gun you want to duplicate to a co-op partner.
Step 3
Now exit the game and transfer your backup save and overwrite your current save file.
Step 4
If you now load back into the game you will find your gun has been restored.
To reiterate, it is very important to remember when you start duping weapons (or items) that you make sure to backup the save file before trading away your gun, your backup inventory must contain the gun so you continue to keep it. Exit the game once you have dropped the gun and are certain the autosave has taken place and your teammate has it. When you now upload your backup file you will notice that you have been transported slightly into the past allowing you to regain your lost gun or item. Although this process can be time consuming it is well worth doing when the weapon being duped is a Legendary one.
