We have a collection of cheats and tips for this action role-playing first-person shooter game that will help you in achieving your objective of shooting and looting your way through the Borderlands to recover a map to ancient Vaults and prevent a universe-destroying power from falling into the wrong hands.

Borderlands 3 Cheats and Tips

Borderlands 3 takes place at the Borderlands, a group of planets at the edge of the galaxy that are being ruthlessly exploited by militarised corporations. The game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC.

Cheats and Tips

Below is a collection of cheats and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include fast travel and elemental weapons. As well as these cheats and tips we also have Borderlands 3 Guide which goes into more details on some of the cheats and tips we have below:

  • Choosing your Character

In Borderlands 3 there are four playable characters; Amara, Moze, Zane and FL4K, and each of these Vault Hunters possess distinct skills, dialogue and modes of progression. It is vitally important that you know exactly what each one entails before you make your pick. It is therefore advised that you research both the starting and later abilities of each character before making a decision.

  • Use the Mini-Map

The world of Borderlands 3 is vast and filled with region-specific quests, audio logs and other hidden goodies. Use the mini-map as a guide to ensure you have not missed out on anything. The mini-map will fill in areas you have explored as you pass through them.

  • Fast Travel

As in previous Borderlands games there are Fast Travel stations scattered thoughout the areas and planets you will visit. In Borderlands 3 they are not the only means of warping around as you can now teleport instantly from anywhere to previously discovered Fast Travel stations anywhere in the galaxy or your most recently used vehicle, all via the map in your ECHO device.

  • Elemental Weapons

When facing the various enemies your choice of elemental weapons can make a huge difference in the damage you deal them. There are five elemental damage types in Borderlands 3. These are Incendiary, Corrosive, Shock, Cryo, and Radiation.

The first three types are most effective when matched to an enemy's colour-coded health bar: Incendiary damage tears through Flesh represented by red health bars, Shock decimates Shields shown as blue health bars, and Corrosive will melt through Armor denoted by yellow health bars. With the exception of Cryo all elemental damage will deal a decent amount of damage-over-time.

  • Equip Class Mods

Class Mods are class specific pieces of gear which when equipped will grant you a variety of bonuses. These bonuses come in the form of points on skill trees which enable you to access abilities and buffs that you have not invested Skill points into.

You will recieve your first Class Mod once you have left Pandora and defeated the boss, Gigamind in the Hostile Takeover story mission. If you find any Class Mods before then, you should store them for safekeeping in your Player Bank found in Sanctuary III's Crew Quarters.

Check out our How to Unlock Weapon and Item Slots page to find out when the additional slots become available in Borderlands 3.

  • Use Vehicles

The quickest way to reach quest objectives or new points of interest in Borderlands 3 is to acquire a vehicle that will transport you there. There are several ways in which you can do this; you can digistruct a vehicle at any Catch-A-Ride station, hijack bandit drivers, or search for the purple models that appear on your minimap on some planets.

If you can reach these custom vehicles and successfully drive them to a Catch-A-Ride in one piece, Ellie will reverse-engineer their modifications for use in your own car collection.

  • Loyalty Rewards

Regularly check the in-game email system for weapon manufacturers' loyalty rewards which you will recieve via the HUD when you hit certain milestones using a manufacters gear.

The reward you will recieve will always a blue, purple, or gold weapon which will have a weapon score that will be around the same as, or higher, than the best gun in your inventory.

Check out our Shift Codes Guide to find out how you can create a SHIFT account for Borderalnds 3 that will enable you to redeem in-game rewards and external bonuses.

  • Talk to Characters

As you explore the world of Borderlands 3 you will encounter a diverse cast of characters which will also include familiar faces from the previous games. Talking to these characters will enable you take on optional quests for bonus rewards and also provide you with dialogue that gives you a deeper look into their backstories.
