Top 10 Legendary Pokemon

3. Mewtwo -- Psychic Type (Mega Form: Psychic / Fighting Type)

Mewtwo is a Psychic-Type Legendary Pokemon whose story in the games is, well, legendary!

A member of the “Mew Duo” along with Mew (naturally) it can Mega Evolve into two different forms: Mega Mewtwo X using Mewtwonite X and Mega Mewtwo Y using Mewtwonite Y.

Mewtwo is a Pokemon created by science -- that is actually a very important element in its story and the folklore that has grown up around it because, well, imagine it! A Pokemon that was man-made! Sadly that is also part of its story that is sad -- you see Mewtwo was created after years of horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments based on Mew.

Though it was created to be the ultimate predator and battler, over time following its escape from the lab it eventually discovered its compassionate side -- ironically enough considering that if the humans that created it had known that it even HAD a compassionate side, they would likely have just killed it and started over on the next version.

It should not surprise that while Mewtwo factors into the games, it has a much wider and more interesting presence in the shows, movies, and especially the manga.

Mewtwo is said to be the strongest Pokemon in the game. Because of this, it can also be the hardest Pokemon to find and catch. In FireRed and LeafGreen it can be obtained after you have defeated the Elite 4 and become the Regional Champ, and have obtained the National Pokedex from the Professor.

Go to Cerulean City and follow Route 24 to the Cave, Surf over and you will find him there.

In Pokemon X & Y you can capture him by completing the following steps:

1. After defeating the Elite Four and becoming the Pokemon Regional Champion, head to the Pokemon Village where you will find that the bloke blocking the cave near the top left corner is no longer bl;ocking it! Excellent!

2. Go in and you will find Mewtwo with its back against the door.

3. Before you do ANYTHING else you really need to SAVE your game NOW. Seriously - you only get the one chance at this so do not much it up, right?

4. Talk to Mewtwo to trigger the cutscene.

5. Now the battle begins - weaken him to the point that you can capture him and voila! You are now the owner of one of the most dangerous and valued Pokemon in the entire game series from day 0 to today! Well done you!

No, seriously, adding Mewtwo to your collection is a significant accomplishment - particularly considering that, like little brother Mew, it numbers among the most sought-after of them all. Plus it offers some very good DD and Tanking if you are willing to use them as part of your team, though you need to bear in mind that a lot of official tourney play bans his use.
