If I were you I would get a Tuner like the ImprezaWRX STi. Even though it doesn't have the best top speed the handling will become useful in the Canyon Duel and in the city's sharp turns. I used the Ford GT and maxed out everything but I knew the shortcuts and drifted on the turns and immediately used N20 right after.

I beat him with the Gallardo, mine had full upgrades. Great all round car, good speed, acceleration and handling..

Darius is as fast as weener when It comes down to it. All my canyon races,(Including Darius) have all been won by my overtaking him. I used the SLR Mclaren to overtake him on a turn that he slows down alot in the final canyon race.

I really believe the best car to use against Darius is the Corvette, all power.
