As a member of the Phantom Thieves, you’ll be exploring the metaverse a lot. However, there will be times where you’ll have to do your own investigation in reality. That’s where the Investigation or Rumor mechanic comes in. In this page, we will quickly discuss this feature and provide tips on how to quickly complete your investigation.
Investigation sequences are thrown your way during story-related objectives so there’s no danger of missing out this sequence nor are there any missable rewards for these. Rumor gathering can be done simply by talking to certain NPCs, checking out locations, or interacting with certain objects in reality.
During a rumor investigation, you’ll see a progress percentage on the top-middle section of the screen. Your objective is to gather enough rumor or information to reach 100%. NPCs and rumor-related locations and objects won’t give the same amount of investigation progress; some might progress your investigation by 2% while significant intel may boost the progress to over 48%!
Your allies will also be hanging around different locations. You can also use this chance to talk to them and receive free gifts when they feel like it. However, that doesn’t mean that they won’t do their part in the investigation. After talking to the NPCs available and getting some movement in your overall progress, you might receive some tips or intel from your allies, similar to what’s shown below.
Once the intel-gathering progress reaches 100%, you’ll get a confirmation message that the investigation is complete. At that point, you don’t need to do anything else anymore; your party will reconvene and the story will continue.
